A7: Art is filled with choice. They can choose to add more or less, or create a mood, or tell a story through their art. Once I show the students a technique or process as long as they are using materials appropriately and have an idea, I am game. #ksedchat

A6: I also struggle with this one, our district wide expectation is that we use Kagan cooperative structures to help get students engaged and working as a team. I think I need to do more class and team builders in the art room! #ksedchat

A5: I love to incorporates book along with my lessons. “Ain’t gonna paint no more,” is a personal favorite. We are about to start a school wide read aloud of “Charlotte’s Web” #ksedchat

A4: I know it is a school wide expectation our students start their day with a morning meeting to get in some mindfulness, set their intentions for the day, talk through their schedules and anything else before they even start their day. #ksedchat

A3: Depends on my rooms mood, sometimes I have a class that comes in and I can tell it’s a Disney or kids bop type of art class. Other times I read the room and it needs too chill so classical music it is. #ksedchat

A2: I always laugh at myself first, I try not to take myself to seriously, in hopes that it rubs off onto them. Students also come with silly jokes and stories for me. I love to laugh and get a kick out of their jokes and tales. #ksedchat

I think communicating our flexibiltity and transparency with ways and times that parents can communicate would be a good start. I also think if we make more positive contact they may be more apt to reach out when needed. #ksedchat
