தமிழ்நாட்டில் புதிதாக ஒரு ஆட்சி அமைந்து ஒரு மாதம் ஆகிறது. இந்த ஒரு மாதமும் டிவியைப் பார்த்தாலும் நாளிதழ்களைத் திருப்பினாலும் கொலையும், கொள்ளையும், பாலியல் வன்கொடுமைகளும், போதை மருந்து நடமாட்டமும் தான் செய்திகளாக இருக்கின்றன. பல்வேறு குற்றச் சம்பவங்களில் ஆளும் கட்சியான த.வெ.க. நிர்வாகிகளே சம்பந்தப்பட்டு உள்ளனர்.

ஆளும்கட்சியைச் சேர்ந்த பெண் ஒருவர், சொந்தக் கட்சிக்காரர்களால் பாலியல் வன்கொடுமைக்கு ஆளாக்கப்பட்டு, அவர்கள் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார்கள். அந்தப் பெண்ணால் குற்றம் சாட்டப்படும் ஆளும் கட்சி எம்.எல்.ஏ மீது இதுவரை நடவடிக்கை இல்லை. ஆனால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பெண்ணைக் கட்சியை ��ிட்டு நீக்கி இருக்கிறது தூய சக்தி என்று கபட வேடம் போடும் அரசு.

“இந்த ஆட்சியை ஆறு மாதம் விமர்சிக்க மாட்டோம்” என்று எங்கள் கழகத் தலைவர் மு.க.ஸ்டாலின் அவர்கள் சொல்லியிருந்தாலும், நிலைமை மிக மோசமாகப் போய்வரும் நிலையில் அவர் விமர்சனம் செய்தார். “ஆறு மாதம் அல்ல, மூன்று மாதம் கூட தாங்காது என்ற நிலைமையில் தான் ஆட்சி போய்க்கொண்டு இருக்கிறது” என்று தலைவர் அவர்கள் பேசினார்கள். ஆனால், மூன்று மாதத்தில் இந்த ஆட்சி கவிழ்ந்துவிடும் என்று அவர் சொன்னதாகத் திரித்து செய்தி பரப்பப்படுகிறது.

இதுகுறித்து பல்வேறு அரசியல் கட்சித் தலைவர்கள் செய்தியாளர்கள் கேட்டபோது, தி.மு.க. தலைவர் அப்படி பேசியிருக்கக் கூடாது என்று பேசி உள்ளனர். ஆட்சி கவிழும் என்று தலைவர் அவர்கள் பேசவுமில்லை; அது அவரது நிலைப்பாடும் அல்ல!

“ஆறு மாதம் வரை, இந்த ஆட்சி பற்றி விமர்சித்துப் பேசப் போவதில்லை” எ���்று அவர் சொல்லியிருந்தார். ஆனால் நாள்தோறும் கொலை, கொள்ளை, அரிவாள் வெட்டுகள், போதை மருந்துகள் நடமாட்டம், பெட்ரோல் குண்டு வீச்சுகள், மின்வெட்டு, விவசாயிகள் போராட்டம், ப���லியல் வன்கொடுமைகள் நடப்பதைப் பார்க்கும் போது, இதை விமர்சிக்காமல் எப்படி இருக்க முடியும் என்ற பொருளில், “மூன்று மாதமாவது தாங்குமா என்ற கேள்விக்குறியோடுதான் ஆட்சி நடந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறது” என்று பொருள்படும்படிதான் சொன்னார்கள்.

ஆசை அறுபது நாள் என்பார்கள். ஆனால் இன்றைய ஆளும் கட்சிக்கு வாக்களித்தவர்கள் ஒரு வாரம் தான் அமைதியாக இருந்தார்கள். சமூகவலைத்தளங்கள் முழுக்கவே ஆளும் க��்சிக்கு எதிரான ஆவேசமான கருத்துகளைத்தான் மக்கள் சொல்லி வருகிறார்கள்.

இதைத்தான் தலைவர் அவர்கள் தனது உரையில் சுட்டிக் காட்டினார்கள். கலைப்பு, கவிழ்ப்பு எண்ணத்தோடு அல்ல. மக்களே களைத்துப் போய்விட்டார்கள் அதற்குள்!

You are most welcome to hold your leader in high esteem but to say Tamil Nadu was waiting for 60 years for a leader to emerge is just absolute crap and disrespects all the work done by your predecessors. Even in a bustling metropolis like Chennai, we see a beautiful miracle unfolding every year. Olive Ridley turtles come to Chennai beaches to nest every single year. This season, Chennai became Tamil Nadu’s largest nesting hub, protecting 74,143 eggs. What does it tell us ! The message is clear, wildlife can thrive in cities too, provided conservation is prioritised. This year across Tamil Nadu, 1,986 nests were protected, 2,29,668 eggs were conserved and 1,91,615 hatchlings were released into the sea through 52 hatcheries along the coast. Cuddalore protected 55,348 eggs and Nagapattinam 30,499, making this one of the strongest Olive Ridley conservation seasons in recent years. Most encouragingly, turtle mortality declined sharply from 1,575 last year to 786 this year a reduction of nearly 50 percent.

Behind these numbers lies an extraordinary partnership. Forest frontline staff, the Students Sea Turtle Conservation Network, @wii_india, researchers, volunteers, NGOs, the Fisheries Department, Indian Coast Guard, Marine Police and, most importantly, fishing communities worked together to protect these marine visitors. Conservation efforts included the distribution of 2,663 Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDs), 172 joint sea patrols, beach monitoring through the Turtle Guardian App, nest protection, clean-up drives and awareness programmes that reached over 23,000 fishermen. Satellite tagging of turtles has also helped us better understand their remarkable journeys. As this nesting season comes to a close, we bid farewell to these ancient travellers. The hatchlings released from our shores will now travel across vast oceans, only to return years later to the very same beaches where they were born. #WorldEnvironmentDay #Turtles #TNForest
