@StephenM But if you're choosing between an interpretation offered by a legal expert based on precedent and scholarship, and one offered by an ideologue because "the nation would destroy itself" otherwise, go with the legal expert.
HORRIFIC: A video shows Israeli settler terrorists setting fire to a Palestinian home in the village of Deir Dibwan in the occupied West Bank in an attempt to burn the family alive.
My experience has been the same. For goodness sake, Amira Hass--a Jewish Israeli--lived in Gaza for four years and has lived in Ramallah ever since. The idea that Palestinians can't tell the difference between a Jew, even an Israeli Jew, and a soldier or settler coming to do them harm illustrates the anti-Palestinian racism that, sadly, pervades both the US and much of the Jewish community
No - once you decide to become responsible for helping sick people get drugs they need to stay alive (which was an excellent decision), you accept that if you stop that assistance, people will die. Musk - and his ridiculous supporters, like Rufo - want to avoid that fact.
The AfD's party leader Alice Weidel distinguishes between Germans and "passport Germans."
People like me. People who acquired citizenship rather than being born with it.
She was asked about this in 2019. She defended it again in 2025. The implication is clear: there are real Germans and there are legal Germans. One category is permanent. The other is conditional.
I did not need to hear this from a politician to know it exists. I have felt it in rooms, in silences, in the way some people recalibrate their warmth when they learn where I am from. But hearing it stated openly, from a party polling at 30%, is a different thing entirely.
If you are an immigrant in Germany and you are not paying attention to this, you should be.
Israeli settlers stormed the Palestinian village of Qabalan, took over a house under construction, and expelled its owner—all under the protection of the Israeli army.
What you are seeing in this photo is a confrontation between the rightful owner and thieves.
I don't have to explain in every post that I'm against the Israeli occupation just because I'm also against Hamas.
It is completely fine—and morally consistent—to oppose both.
The only people who deliberately conflate Palestinian freedom with support for Hamas are Hamas itself and its disgusting supporters. They want the world to believe that rejecting Hamas means abandoning Palestine. It doesn't.
I stand with my people and advocate for their freedom—not with terrorists, and not with occupation.
Down with the occupation. Down with Hamas.
If you are on the verge of AGI or ASI, why isn’t your model smart enough to recognize espionage distillation in real time? You say “cure cancer in a few years.” Isn’t sniffing illicit distillation quite a bit easier than curing cancer? Why write letters to DC? Just use AGI.
🚨 BREAKING: U.S. government will decide who gets access to GPT-5.6
OpenAI will release GPT-5.6 only in a limited preview to a small group of partners.
Sam Altman told staff the government would be "approving access customer by customer."
Commerce Sec Lutnick personally called Altman warning: don't launch without approvals from other agencies.
A de facto licensing regime.
ITS HAPPENING
Were some of the journalists killed by Israel in Gaza actually Hamas fighters? Yes.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad have now confirmed it themselves, in their own obituaries — naming some of the dead they'd previously let the world call "journalists" as their own military operatives.
Does that justify Israel killing over 250 journalists in Gaza? Absolutely not.
A few confirmed cases are not a license to treat an entire press corps as guilty by association. The vast majority of journalists killed in Gaza were never even accused of anything — no document, no claim, no allegation. They were doing their jobs.
A few cases don't justify the majority. Most of the journalists killed in Gaza were civilians.
Dear @gidonsaar With all due respect, having lived in apartheid South Africa & then served under Nelson Mandela in our first democratic Parliament, both Mandela & Archbishop Desmond Tutu, not only described Israel as an apartheid state but suggested it is a more brutal form of apartheid than they experienced in SA. Having visited Israel & the OPTs numerous times, I share their view. Israel was apartheid SA’s closest ally. Just as apartheid was ended in SA so too will it end in Israel/Palestine

Israeli excuses cascade:
1. It didn't happen.
2. We didn't do it.
3. We didn't mean to do it.
4. They deserved it.
5. It's Hamas's fault.
They have now reached 3.
