Want to design a captivating lobby experience that also generates revenue? By integrating custom media walls directly into the columns, AscentiVerse transformed these overlooked architectural elements at Hyatt Regency Chicago into high-visibility digital assets.
With content that can be updated instantly, @HyattChicago can turn each column into paid advertising, hotel branding, wayfinding, conference welcomes, local event promotions, or immersive art and video. Or all of the above!
Each display is custom-framed for a seamless, built-in appearance, complete with a durable, glare-reducing, polycarbonate kicker panel designed to handle constant foot traffic. This extra layer protects your investment from real-world wear - collisions with rolling suitcases, drifting strollers, coffee mishaps, wayward elbows and even curious toddlers!
The result is a striking, floor-to-ceiling video or advertisement that not only captures attention and revenue but elevates the entire space. This is what LED displays are built for: maximum visibility, exceptional durability, and undeniable presence!

We presented a led display concept to our client today. It’s fun to show what could be possible. I told him we are going to show you all the crazy ideas that are possible and you can always pull back what is “too much”. They loved all of it. #wallsaboveall#lightingdesign #leddisplay #digitaldisplay
Spanning an impressive 27 feet along the wall adjacent to the elevators at @HyattChicago, this LED display was thoughtfully integrated just above the ceiling soffit, creating a crisp architectural reveal and the striking illusion of a seamless, suspended digital plane.
A smaller adjacent display provides dedicated directional signage. Carefully engineered around existing wall constraints, both displays integrate seamlessly with the architecture while maintaining excellent visibility from the platform level and for guests descending the escalator.
By fully activating the available vertical space, the installation transforms an otherwise understated area into a captivating, high-impact visual experience.

Do you have a Board? If not, you should.
You might say, “I’m not a company,” or “Our company is too small,” or “I’m a solopreneur,” or even “I’m just a janitor.” It doesn’t matter where you are in your career. Whether you’re a W-2 employee, a 1099 consultant, running a small business, or going after it completely solo — you need people around you.
You need a cheering squad.
You need a mirror check.
You need a sounding board.
You need pushback.
You need gut checks.
You need people who genuinely want what’s best for you — and who aren’t afraid to tell you the hard truths.
I got this advice years ago, and it really opened my eyes. At the time, I was struggling with my business model and how I wanted to grow. Ours was (and still is) a grassroots operation — our growth plan was simply the money coming in. No investors, just grit.
If you have investors, you already have people constantly asking for updates, data, strategy, and assurances. The list never ends. There’s a certain freedom in not having a formal Board of Directors. But I’m not talking about a legal Board of Directors with fiduciary duties and governance rights.
I’m talking about a Board of Advisors — an unofficial, hand-picked group of people you trust to tell you the truth, who want to see you succeed, who understand your struggles, and who’ve already walked the road you’re on. They know the pitfalls, the rewards, and the shortcuts.
Let me tell you a story that drove this point home for me.
Years ago, I met a guy with a real passion for lighting — specifically circadian lighting solutions. He wasn’t in the lighting industry at all. I believe he worked in banking. He had saved up some money, grew tired of his job, and decided he wanted out. So he took his nest egg and poured it into developing a single bedside table lamp. It was made of wood, had an interesting shape, integrated a warm-to-dim lighting kit, and maybe even the seed of an app idea.
He built a prototype, burned through a good chunk of his savings, learned what he could about the lighting industry on the fly, and tried to sell it.
I never saw him or the lamp again.
What went wrong? The list is long, but here’s the heart of it: He had zero prior experience or deep knowledge in lighting, electrical engineering, circadian science, manufacturing, supply chain, sales channels, or industrial design. But these are not the reasons he failed.
He failed because he didn’t have anyone around him asking the tough questions or giving brutally honest advice. And even if someone in the industry had tried to warn him that his approach was flawed, he probably wouldn’t have listened — because he never asked for help.
If he had built a Board of Advisors early on, he would have intentionally surrounded himself with people whose opinions he actually valued and trusted. People who could have helped him see the gaps before he bet his savings on them.
So here are the keys to building an effective Board of Advisors…

When we have partners like @novastartech, it’s important to know what that means. Are they there for you when things so sideways? When it’s a tough call? Or do they throw up their hands and pretend they lost your phone number when the pressure is too much? A great example of character is how they respond when they make mistakes. Novastar Technology is a great partner and here is why. @Hyatt@HyattChicago hired us to create a visual experience for their Crystal Ballroom Prefunction space. It was a large screen to fill an existing wall and roughly 30ft to the top and 20ft wide. We designed it for a wide viewing distance since this screen could be seen from the street, but it’s mostly going to be eyes at about 10-40ft away. We settled at P2.5 (2.5mm pitch) with a low refresh rate since it was mostly slow moving video and static images that was expected to be used on this screen. Nothing too difficult to process. Because of the size we used their H5 Series processor and everything was HDMI connections and the server was processing everything through @22miles . It looked great and the customer was happy. About a year later, we got a call. “What would it take to have this screen cast the @NFL National Football League Super Bowl?” We hadn’t looked at the setup in a few months but we soon figured out a solution for them. It was an upgrade under $100k, would required a new server, and some simple programming but it would be super easy and quick. That proposal, when accepted by the client is simple. We pay you. You make it work per the proposal. But we, as in the “team we”, made a mistake. We didn’t realize that the upgraded server was not compatible with the receiving cards that were inside the LED cabinets. In order to make it work per our proposal, we needed to buy all new cards, get up on a man-lift, pull out LED modules and get inside each cabinet and swap out Every. Single. Card. We had no money for these cards and no money for the labor. This was going to be a big bust. I can’t call the Hyatt and ask for more money. This is an 8K upgrade and it’s expensive as it was, wasn’t going to cover it. I would literally be paying for the Hyatt to be able to host a Super Bowl party! But there is a happy ending. When Novastar Tech realized that it was their mistake since they didn’t catch the required equipment modification triggered the required upgrade to their receiving card, they offered a solution. With a “play call on the field”, the quartback called an audible. They would send a team out to Chicago with the recieving cards and help us install them. It was 48hrs of 3 people up and down on the man-lift while we carefully swap out the electronics while reprogramming everything from scratch. It was late nights, long hours, Chicago deep dish pizza 🍕 (@GiordanosPizza is the best!) and lots of gray hair but it was done. It was perfect. It was on time. And the client only saw the end result. That is what a good partnership is all about. 🙏
In the empty stadium, under floodlight glare,
the young striker runs alone, lap after lap.
Loneliness is the quiet price of the dream—
the hours no one sees, the ache no crowd cheers.
Yet in that silence, something hardens:
resolve forged in absence, will sharpened by void.
Sacrifice carves the path; endurance turns shadow to strength.
The ball waits at dawn for the one who stayed.
