@notherenowmeow@VishalMalvi_ Aethiopia is literally just Greek for Ethiopia…
‘Fair’ in the context of the ancient Mediterranean world usually just means not black, not the modern term. So it could mean brown, red, etc. just look at modern Greeks today, blonde hair is extremely rare and blue eyes even more.
@BlacknightDiluc@Jubean_X@VishalMalvi_@grok No, in an ideal world she would be played by a Greek person. But given that Hollywood has an aversion to casting Greek actors, I don’t see the difference between her being played by a white woman or a black woman. Either way they aren’t Greek.
@notherenowmeow@VishalMalvi_@grok There are black people in Greek history and mythology, a good example being Andromeda who was the queen of Ethiopia. What doesn’t exist is blonde hair blue eyed people.
@Apocalyptikrieg@VishalMalvi_@grok I mean there’s plenty of English speaking Greeks myself included. Nonetheless, Lupita Nyong'o is an English speaking American so you shouldn’t have any issues!
@Apocalyptikrieg@VishalMalvi_@grok Yes I have actually, but that’s beside the point. A Northern European person would’ve been more foreign to an Ancient Greek than a black person so like why don’t we complain when British people play Greeks?
@OliLondonTV You guys are acting like they are the stars of the movie when in reality Helen shows up in the Odyssey for like five minutes and Sinon even less.
@HellenicEchoes If you are angry at Nyong'o being in the movie but not Damon, you are being racist. A single black woman isn’t the issue, no Greeks in the cast is.
@HomerPavlos If you really cared about the Greeks, you would complain that there isn’t a single Greek person cast in this movie, but you don’t. It’s almost like you don’t care about the Greeks but instead just want to be racist.
