'Hold me and just keep holding on until I forget we have a past and that we'll have a future not to great either,' Taehyung's lips quiver, tears springing in his eyes, he closes them, burying his face against Jungkook's chest, 'just hold me until our minds catch up and my self-respect stirs its head in me to ask you to leave. Just hold me in the present, where I can lie to myself that everything's fine.'
Taehyung shudders, blows out a breath, "just hold me for a second. Then..." he swallows, "then we can find a way."
Jungkook gulps. It should be terrifying... And it is. So call him a little crazy, but Jungkook also finds it kind of hot.
He looks down, nods, and tries his best to bite back his smile. "Yes, Professor Kim. I understand. I'll be really careful from now on."
💭💭💭
On a random cloudy night, when his mother leaves after visiting him at the hospital, yes, he has been living in a hospital for years now, Jungkook manages to sneak out and finds himself standing at the edge of a bridge above the Han River.
Maybe if he ends it all now, he will finally meet Taehyung. Maybe this is how their ending is written.
And just as he is about to hold out one of his feet, his phone rings in his hand. He frowns upon seeing the unknown number and decides to ignore it. But then it rings again and keeps doing so until Jungkook sighs and picks up the call. And the moment the caller's voice reaches his ear, he freezes. He knows this voice. He knows it very well. His heartbeat quickens instantly.
"Jungkookie, how have you been?"
