THE FAREWELL SERMON OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD (ﷺ) ON THE DAY OF ARAFAH 🥺😭💔
On the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, in the 10th year after Hijrah, during his Farewell Hajj, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) stood on the plain of Arafah and delivered a powerful sermon to thousands of Muslims gathered from different places. It was his final message to his Ummah before his passing. 🤍
He began by praising Allah and said:
“O people! Listen to my words carefully, for perhaps I may not meet you again after this year.”
The hearts of the companions filled with emotion and tears as they listened to the words of the Prophet of Mercy (ﷺ).
He taught that no Arab is superior to a non-Arab, and no white person is superior to a black person, except through piety and righteousness.
He destroyed the pride and arrogance of the days of ignorance, reminding humanity that all people come from Adam, and Adam was created from dust.
The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade ظلم (oppression), shedding innocent blood, taking people’s wealth unjustly, and all forms of usury (interest). He commanded Muslims to fulfill trusts, repay debts, and never harm one another.
He also gave a heartfelt reminder regarding women, saying:
“Treat women with kindness.” 💙
He reminded men that women are a trust from Allah and that they have rights just as men have rights over them.
Then he warned the Ummah not to return to disbelief after him by fighting and killing one another. He said:
“All Muslims are brothers.”
And he declared:
“I leave behind two things; if you hold firmly to them, you will never go astray: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah.” ✨
At the end of the sermon, he asked the companions:
“Have I delivered the message of Allah to you?”
With tears in their eyes, they replied:
“Yes, you have delivered the message, fulfilled the trust, and given sincere advice.”
Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) raised his finger toward the sky and said three times:
“O Allah, bear witness.” 🤲
At that very moment, Allah revealed the powerful verse:
“Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and chosen Islam as your religion.” Surah Al-Ma’idah: 3 🌙✨
Mujahid (RA) narrated That the Messenger of Allah (SAW) fasted during Ramadan and broke his fast when travelling.
(Sunan an-Nasai 2293, Book 22, Hadith 204)
He once said “ When I write my autobiography, it will create tremors”
For now he is creating tremors in South Africa with his @PretoriaCapsSA team.
His leadership as always been inspirational and this one as a coach is no different.👏👏

What a day!
It was a day of celebration
and yet one filled with moments of reflection.
It was a day to look forward to,
and it goes down as one to remember.
I had enough reason to feel proud (QT).
With the rich official tribute now (pic), I see I wasn't off the mark.
