Listening to gusts of pelting rain hit the windows accompanied by the moderately soft rainfall setting of the white noise machine my toddler needs to fall asleep. #isntitironic#hurricanenicholas
Just as I was looking forward to the start of the fall semester - office, classes, preschool for the kiddo!!
Thanks, Texas. 😒
Get vaccinated, folks! And wear a darn mask.
1/ Dozens of Texas hospitals have run out of intensive care unit beds as COVID-19 surges faster than any other time during the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Gov. Greg Abbott has blocked local officials and schools from issuing safety measures, like mask mandates. https://t.co/JHixXW38pq
It’s @GabeWootton’s birthday today! I’m so excited to get back to the island with our little guy and celebrate. Cake!!!!! The thing is Gabe hates birthdays (he says everyone’s birthday should default to April 26 😒). So let’s be a friend and ALL wish him 🎉 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 🎉
@JohnWFerguson This is what happens with leadership like ours. I just wish every Texan had the right to choose whether they get covid or not as we go back to work and school among folks with very different ideas of ‘personal responsibility’.
Another fantastic read from @BitterSouth on the rise and persistence of ‘hillbilly tv’. Leaves me thinking about how the demand for this genre mirrors right-wingism in general; fundamentally, it exists because there’s money to be made from it.

@SarahEnelow @BitterSouth @TruettDietz Fantastic piece that captures my experience. Not surprising when I did the bath and realized we’re the same age and went to school in similar communities. Thank you for telling your story with this and calling attention to the BS the Texleg is passing.
@BitterSouth @SarahEnelow This is exactly my experience with Texas history in public school: nationalist, white-washed history. It’s sad for young minds that want to know the full, diverse, and rich history of our state that was founded on Mexican lands and largely built by people of color.
