@fesshole Imagine these children growing up and finding out their grandparents charged their parents for looking after them. They'd grow up thinking their grandparents loved spending time with them, only to find out they were financially compensated for the burden 🙄
Read a quote this morning that has resonated with me, and I think will resonate with other academics.
"You don't notice your progress in life because you're always raising the bar"
Time to reflect on how I view myself and my accomplishments!
@chammond02 thought of you too!
Very excited to deliver this alongside colleagues @YasuKotera and @NicholasKemp next week.
If you're a student looking to attend, please DM me on here or LinkedIn for a 90% off code! #ikigai#Wellbeing
Please feel free to share this to your respective networks.
@dfido1@chammond02 I completely disagree with everything written in this. Yes, you are my supervisor. However, you are my colleague and my mentor. There's no toxic authority here. If I can go for a beer with my workplace colleagues, I can go for a beer with my research colleagues!

@SimJoeMoore@Strictlyirene@InternetH0F In 2001 my dad earnt £6k per year more than I do now. My parents were able to get a mortgage for a large 4 bedroom house in a nice area. My salary will get me a mortgage for a 1 bedroom flat in a not so nice area. Mortgage allowance here is based on your income 🤷♀️
@FromPhDtoLife Crochet. Especially large projects that take a lot of time to complete. Seeing the project grow slowly when you work at it a bit at a time is a great visual representation of big research projects (i.e., PhD thesis)
