What. A. Game.
What. A. Win!
@2017_OUFC
Won 4-3 with a last minute winner when losing 3-2 with 5 minutes to go!
These players are the most resilient group I’ve ever worked with.
The effort, work rate and attitude is DIFFERENT CLASS!
What a weekend! 3/3 wins
1-0 vs. Cincinnati yesterday, 5-1 vs. Cleveland State and 2-0 vs. Miami (OH)

3-0 loss and played 3/4s of the game with 10-men.
Proud of the boys and their effort/attitude when playing against such a good team.
First games of the @2017_OUFC of the season.

An excellent 6-1 win vs. James Carrol University followed by a 💔 2-1 loss vs. Case Western Reserve University

4. So the coach implements the a leadership method/style/approach that will inspire/influence the athletes to perform within the philosophy/goal of the program (e.g., a transformational leadership style that allows for athletes to voice their thought-processes).
Coaches manage and lead athletes by influencing their behaviours/actions/attitudes by inspiring them to work towards a goal of the organisation.
This needs to be done through an intentional thought-process related to 4 elements…
3. The coach recognising the situation (and how their athletes may react to that situation based on their qualities/characteristics) - e.g., athletes that are frustrated they are not getting results due to poor performance even though they are working hard.
1. The coach implementing their own qualities/characteristics/philosophy (e.g., emotional intelligence).
2. The coach understanding their athletes’ qualities/characteristics that they are coaching (e.g., athletes that are internally motivated but get frustrated easily).
💚💔
Jake was in the cohort in my 1st year when I arrived at Ohio University.
What an excellent student-athlete, meticulous coach, but more importantly incredible human being.
Devastated to hear this news
RIP
Absolute heartbreaking to hear that @ohiou Coaching Education alum Jake Roehn has passed away.
Jake was an @Ohio_Baseball student-athlete and graduated with a Masters in Recreation and Sport Sciences in Coaching Education in 2018.
Our hearts and thoughts go out to his family.
My experience in the @OhioCoachingEd program was a transformative experience for me as a coach and clinician. @205_Academy was a direct output from my degree classes. I highly recommend @OhioCoachingEd for coaches interested in expanding their knowledge and developing a more through understanding of the game and supporting science.

Coaches, when coaching in high pressure moments, emotional management is critical (e.g. Hochschilds emotional labour). Staying calm, while motivating others, and masking frustration, is so important when coaching - just as Jay Wright highlights:#coaching
Congratulations to the @OHIOPattonCOE undergraduate students graduating today with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Activity & Sport Coaching!

Coaches, after seeing Lamine Yamal’s goal v Inter last night, think about how you design your training session activities to develop situational decision-making (e.g. ecological dynamic approach) so players can prepare for the scenarios they will be in
