@SbredOldFriends @JDHarness When USTA moved from lip to neck brands there was not an increase of horses in trouble. I believe slaughter and brands are two different topics. Most breeds don’t identify at all, and for us to have two separate forms of identification isn’t efficient. Chip tech is expanding!
@SbredOldFriends @JDHarness Ellen, when Chairman Loewe offered you the microphone at the meeting, why didn’t you speak? That would have been a perfect time to ask these questions.
@JDHarness We had to make a transition some how, and there were major bumps in the road at times. One of those bumps being one of our own horses that was scratched in a Stakes race due to conflicting commission rules. The goal is to simplify and are headed that way.
@JDHarness Although I am not on the Rules committee, I attended that meeting this morning for further clarification. Attorney to the USTA Mr. Don Brey read the committee the ruling that was originally passed to prove this was a clerical error, which needed committee approval to rectify.
@SbredOldFriends @JDHarness That is correct. Microchipping is still our main means of identification for the Standsrdbred breed but freezebranding is and will remain an option to the owner. The is not an option for any other breed, and I am thankful to have that option.
