Been pretty quiet on here lately for lots of reasons but mostly b/c I was trying to disconnect during sabbatical.
But! Field studies are ramping up and I just got back from a lovely place with great colleagues from University of Montana. Yay for collaborative science!

We joked that I should teach in a disguise so no one would recognized me on campus while I am on sabbatical (the classroom is a “fish bowl” - all windows). 🥸
On sabbatical this year, so I haven’t taught since March 2023. I guest lectured today for a grad student so she didn’t have to cancel class. I came home after and immediately napped. 😆 I love teaching but forgot how draining it is - especially as an introvert.
Ana Davidson (https://t.co/l7wSg4BfjX) and I (https://t.co/9gijiZmAjo) are recruiting a Ph.D. student to study the ecological and demographic signatures of plague resistance in prairie dog populations @CSU_FWCB Please distribute widely! More info here: https://t.co/msi4g7VqzX
📯📯We are hiring an Assistant Professor in Movement Ecology @USU_WILD!!! Please spread the word and come do cool research with me and some amazing colleagues! 📯📯
I just did @SkypeScientist w/ a 5th grade class to help prepare them for a camping trip to a state park. The teacher is having them present what they learned about recreation ecology to the other classes going on the trip so they can enjoy nature while minimizing disturbance. ❤️
Today was my first official day of my academic sabbatical. Really looking forward to some focused time for reading, writing, and - of course - some knitting. 😊 Today I took a midday knitting and reading break outside in my garden where our roses are having a second bloom.
Interesting piece from Rocky Mountain NP and Park Science on how community scientists can help with monitoring visitor-related disturbance.
