AFC Sudbury Appoint New Women's First Team Manager

AFC Sudbury are pleased to announce the appointment of Kayleigh Steed as the club’s new Women’s First Team Manager.

Kayleigh currently serves as Head of Girls Football within the Academy and is no stranger to the club, having previously represented the Women’s First Team between 2010 and 2015.

Her journey at AFC Sudbury began even earlier, first stepping into coaching with our U8s side at just 16 years old. Since then, Kayleigh has continued to develop both on and off the pitch, building a strong reputation within the women’s and girls’ game while playing a key role in the development of our Academy pathway.

Chairman Andy Harvison said: “Since joining the AFC Sudbury Academy, Kayleigh has consistently demonstrated the qualities, commitment, and dedication required to take on this important role.

Having built up extensive knowledge and experience through a variety of positions within the game — including as a former AFC Sudbury player — Kayleigh brings a deep understanding of the club, its culture, and the pathway we are continuing to develop for girls’ and women’s football.

Her Academy experience will be critical to the future growth and progression of the Women’s First Team, helping to strengthen the connection between the Academy and senior football programme.

I would also like to thank all candidates who applied for the role, all of whom demonstrated real strengths and qualities.”

Kayleigh said on her appointment: “I’m delighted and incredibly proud to be appointed manager of the Women’s First Team. It’s a fantastic opportunity and one I’m hugely excited about.

The club means a lot to me and my family, who have grown up watching Sudbury.

I’m looking forward to building positive relationships across the club, working hard, and hopefully creating plenty of memorable moments for our players and supporters along the way. I can’t wait to get started!”

With her deep connection to the club, passion for player development, and extensive coaching experience, we are excited to see Kayleigh lead the next chapter for our Women’s First Team.
