Over time, & as we work our recovery, the "voices" of trauma, addiction, depression, or an eating disorder DO tend to fade.
...except when they come out of nowhere, apropos of nothing-- either whispering in our ear or shouting through a megaphone after long periods of quiet.
Sometimes "one day at a time" may as well be "one year" or "one decade."
Maybe we can't process anything more than this 10 SECONDS.
So be it. No shame.
Manage these 10 seconds.
We'll worry about the next 10 seconds when they get here.
You're OK. Breathe; blink; focus.
