Delhi Police should examine the CCTV footage from Jantar Mantar, where the NEET protest was taking place, to identify who painted "Azad Kashmir" on the wall, and action must be taken.

The govt should not withdraw any FIRs. In fact, legal action should be taken against everyone involved in stone pelting, violence, and the destruction of both public and private property.

It is evident that some people came with proper planning and the sole intention of creating violence during the protest against the NEET paper leak. Videos clearly show several people covering their faces to conceal their identities while engaging in violence.

Because of their acts, genuine students and peaceful protesters also faced a police lathi-charge. Several policemen and protesters were also injured in the clashes.

If the govt withdraws these cases, it will set a dangerous precedent. It will send the message that anyone in a mob can commit violence and later escape legal consequences because the cases against them will eventually be withdrawn.

Withdrawing these cases would weaken the rule of law and encourage more organized mob violence in the future.

Meanwhile,

1) Punjab: Pharmacist recruitment exam cheating racket busted.

2) Jharkhand: The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) postponed the civil services main exam due to irregularities.

3) Kerala: The Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) cancelled the Last Grade Servant exam due to question paper distribution error.

4) Bihar: The BPSC 72nd CCE prelims exam was postponed due to unavoidable reasons.

The biggest hurdle is not the syllabus anymore, it is the system itself.

1) IITs should focus solely on technical education and engineering. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (H&SS) should not be part of IITs. Institutions established to produce engineers should remain free from ideological or political influence.

2) In NEET-PG 2025, candidates with scores as low as –40 out of 800 were allowed to participate in PG counselling. A negative score was considered qualifying.

These extremely low scores, at which seats were actually allotted, indicate a serious crisis in academic standards. A reasonable minimum qualifying merit should be established to maintain the integrity of medical education and the healthcare system.

3) Regulating the coaching mafia is much needed. In several major examination scams investigated over the years, authorities have uncovered organized networks involving middlemen, insiders from the system, and links to coaching centres or private tuition operators. These networks have repeatedly exploited students' aspirations for profit.

4) Either remove or reform the UGC Promotion of Equity Regulations. They are one-sided regulations. If protection against caste-based discrimination does not include General category students on campuses, the regulations will be vulnerable to misuse, similar to the SC/ST Act. They could be exploited to settle personal grudges and destroy careers.

In Karnataka, 249 guest lecturers in government colleges are accused of getting jobs with fake PhD certificates.

It appears to be one of the state’s biggest higher education recruitment frauds.
