The District Administration Rajouri has launched a Gogri Topi Training Centre to support unemployed women from remote areas like Badhal and Darhal.

Under a 3-month training programme, women are learning the art of making traditional Gogri caps—helping them build skills for self-employment while keeping local culture alive.

The initiative is being conducted under the #BetiBachaoBetiPadhao scheme, with all materials provided free of cost.

A 27-year-old woman from Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir has been living with a 90% disability for a long time after losing both legs below the knee.

Years ago, her family, despite very limited means, managed to arrange prosthetic limbs for her. Over time, those limbs wore out and began causing severe pain, once again restricting her mobility and independence.

This case was referred to us by the District Social Welfare Officer, Rajouri.

Today, she has been fitted with new bilateral below knee prosthetic limbs. This brings her much-needed comfort, improved mobility, and a fresh chance at living with dignity and greater independence.

A heartfelt thank you to Manisha Yadav, Prosthetist and Orthotist Consultant and Centre Incharge at Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayta Samiti (AIIMS Vijaypur, #Jammu branch), for personally guiding the entire process from assessment and measurements to the final fitment with such care and dedication.

We are also deeply grateful to Dibyajnana Beura from Biju Mahaveer Jaipur Foot Centre, #Odisha, for connecting us and making this possible.

Our sincere appreciation to the entire team at Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayta Samiti for their continued selfless work in restoring mobility and hope to those in need.

Each step she takes now carries comfort, dignity, and hope.

In the quiet village of Moghla in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, two young siblings lost their mother to illness a few months ago. Just days later, their father also passed away. Overnight, their world changed, and even the most basic needs became a daily struggle.

Amid this deep hardship, support arrived with compassion and care. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our #PromiseBank depositor @jugender10 and Athena Associates for stepping forward and providing essential ration support. This timely help brought immediate relief and a sense of dignity to the children during an incredibly painful time.

We are equally grateful to @Abhi1shrma, Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, and to Mr. @ask_Raheem, District Child Protection Officer, Rajouri, for their leadership, coordination, and committed on-ground efforts. With careful verification and guidance from the Child Protection team, the children have been enrolled under the Mission Vatsalya Scheme. They will now receive orphan sponsorship support of 4000 rupees per month until they turn 18, offering stability and reassurance for the years ahead.

This is what happens when empathy meets action. Quiet kindness, given at the right moment, can help fragile lives find their footing again.
