"Most believers in miracles, monsters and mysteries are not hoaxers, flimflam artists or lunatics. Most are normal people whose normal thinking has gone wrong in some way."

A libertarian walks into a bar. He slips on a puddle of water from the leaky roof--no longer the sort of thing "pesky govt inspectors" hassle business owners about. The slip & fall breaks his leg. Not able to afford the privatized ambulance, he begs for a ride to the ER. The end.
"Science is progressive because its paradigms depend upon the cumulative knowledge gained through experimentation, corroboration & falsification . . . Pseudoscientists do not correct the errors of their predecessors; they perpetuate them."

A libertarian walks into a bar. Despite being built in a highly earthquake-prone region, building safety regulations are a forgotten thing of the past from the former world of "Orwellian tyranny." An earthquake hits, predictably crumbling the building & killing most its patrons.
Critical Thinking Tip: Beware the "post hoc, ergo propter hoc" fallacy ("After this, therefore because of this.") You took a homeopathic pill, or prayed, & your headache went away. Well, maybe it would've gone away anyway? Preceding =/= Causing.
If we agree that banning fully automatic weapons is acceptable (as many Republicans like @benshapiro do), then we accept there's some compromise between the 2nd A + public safety.
From there, it really just is a question of where we draw the line, & gun control is fair game.
"Scientific progress is the cumulative growth of a system of knowledge over time, in which useful features are retained and nonuseful features are abandoned, based on the rejection or confirmation of testable knowledge."

A libertarian walks into a bar. Due to cost-cutting measures at the privatized FAA, two fully-loaded jet airplanes collide in the sky above. One of them crashes through the roof of the bar, instantly killing all of the patrons.
"Every 18 months, civilian gun deaths in America equal those of US military personnel during the entire Vietnam war."
--Thomas Gabor in "Enough! Solving America's Gun Violence Crisis"
A libertarian walks into a bar. He heads over to the jukebox to play some shitty Ayn Rand music. Due to cost-cutting measures driven by "self-interest" and a lack of regulatory oversight at the factory, the jukebox has faulty wiring that electrocutes & kills him. The end.
