@billy6715 @TyneSnapper There was a place their yard that you could look at & buy lots of salvaged ‘stuff’. Seen loads of ships doors (usually hardwood) incorporated into fences, sheds & garages. Some ex lifeboats ended up just behind the old ferry pier on the Wansbeck!

During WW2,Dad came back from the Faroe’s in a landing craft, he was suffering from malnutrition, (resulting in no pigment in patches of skin) He landed in Greenock, said it was the worst trip ever!

Lived with her for a while in the early 50’s, next door (up) was Mr Angus (married to Mrs Bainbridge??), house down, the Douglas’s (kept pigs). Just out of sight, Mrs Dickenson, no relative, but very kind to me!
