A little about me: I was diagnosed with #autism at age 24. By this point I had 18 months left of my #PhD. For the last 10 months I have been writing my #thesis and working full time in science. Navigating a #PhD is difficult enough but plus an #ASD? Absolute minefield.
I've been #wfh a few days a week for 18 months and now, with little notice, it's ending and I have to go back to working constantly in a loud open office with no respite (or music) whilst also wearing a mask all day. My job is more demanding now and I don't know how I'll cope.
Unintentionally took a break from Twitter. Things are tough (isn't it for everyone?) but we had a miscarriage a year ago, which I didn't take time to grieve, and we can't seem to conceive again. It's tearing me apart. Sometimes it feels impossible just to get through the day.
This may be unpopular but I love having to book a slot to go anywhere or eat out. Nowhere is too busy. Everything is controlled and calm. This new normal works really well for Betsy and myself. We like calm, quiet, low sensory public spaces. Life is actually more accessible now.
I'm hoping she meant to acknowledge that as well as my own busy workload, I take on other tasks to ensure that everyone gets the support they need and don't feel too stressed themselves. I'm not convinced that was the exchange though...
