MARBLE MANIA IS FINALLY OUT! I'm very excited for you guys to try this out! It's a 2D physics-based platformer with open levels and a lot of collectables. Please try it out and give me some feedback!

I know, I know, you ain't reading all this
One one hand, the game is definitely not the best, nor is it very long. Parts of it feel padded out specifically to prevent people from refunding it. The game has problems and probably isn't worth its current price. If you're just a normal guy and you didn't enjoy it, refund it. Sure.
On the OTHER hand, the game is clearly entertaining to watch people play and talk about. It is viral for a reason. And I think for an influencer to refund a game that was actually a (very) successful investment for their channel is rather immoral. They may not have enjoyed the experience, but they without a doubt gained a lot of money and attention from it. The game's quality no longer matters.
Of course, an influencer can still leave a negative review, or even make another video discouraging people from playing it (making even more money in the process), but to refund it? Eh...
It's not like these YouTubers weren't already aware the game had a bad reputation. They saw the negative comments, bought the game, made presumably thousands of dollars off of shitting on it, and are now refunding it. Is that not just as scummy as releasing a shitty game on Steam hoping to make a profit from it?
Maybe I'm more sensitive to this, since I've seen YouTubers make thousands times more money than I have, by playing my stuff. I don't think GOB1/2 are good games, but influencers should probably have more class when these projects, no matter how bad they might be, are the fuel of their livelihoods.
Heya everybody, still alive here. Doing something simple this time. I'm making a customizable Tetris clone, mostly for my own learning, but I'll put it out there when it's done (not called Tetris though so I don't get copywrited lol)

I've created a new Twitter account, @EthanZech, for more conversational posts and to be a place for my other non-gamedev projects. Check it or the YouTube channel out if you're interested in my other creations.
I've finished my #LudumDare Compo game! You play as a power plant worker trying to regulate an unstable reactor. Download it here: https://t.co/0kACaTUPEg

My #LudumDare game is going well! I was worried about the unstable theme at first, but I've really worked with it and now you can finally see the unstable part of the reactor.

Work on my Ludum Dare project goes well! A quick look at the user interface I'm creating. You play as a power plant worker trying to manage an unstable reactor.

Marble Mania did great, and I'm back to #gamedev. Prototyping a #RTS overworld à la Total War or EU4. Just working with game mechanics at the moment.

Marble Mania now has more than 50 downloads on #GameJolt! For a small game I'm very satisfied with how it has done. Thanks to everyone who has downloaded, and download it here if you haven't tried it yet:

Marble Mania releases today! I wanted to show off the hub. It tracks all your progress, and by completing the levels you build a statue in the center.

Marble Mania releases tomorrow! I want to show off the night city level tonight. It has some dazzling lights and also marble pinball.

This is the beach level from Marble Mania. It's boardwalk themed, lots of water and Ferris wheels. Probably the most difficult of the 3 levels.

Ramping up for release, I want to show off the levels we have in Marble Mania. The construction level has a lot of vertical movement and moving platforms.

Marble Mania is finally nearing release. It's coming out on May 29th. I'm really excited! This is the first game I've worked on for such a long time. If you're interested to follow for release, you can find it here: https://t.co/ksGxV5u55P

Working on this cool dynamic effect for the main menu. The appearance will change to the level you were on last before you logged off.
