One of the worst things a company can do to a Black person is tell them to bring their authentic self to work and then not support them when they do. Unless a company has critical mass of Black execs, the whole authentic self thing is a trap.

A young Black woman at my company confided in me that her manager told her to seek out elocution lessons because she has a Bronx accent. My next step is….? 😔
