If you’re wondering why so many people are so concerned about the current Ebola outbreak…
“It was just over a year ago that Elon Musk gleefully declared that they were throwing USAID into the wood chipper. And you may recall that Elon Musk also sheepishly said at his first Cabinet meeting that he mistakenly canceled Ebola prevention…”
Keep posting this so people don’t forget how truly bad this event was.
Don’t let people gaslight you into thinking it was peaceful and worthy of 1500+ pardons and slush fund payoffs.
The USA is a place with no healthcare, but 1000 billionaires.
At least 49 of those billionaires made all their money from Private Healthcare.
Perhaps you can connect the dots.
•The U.S. Senate may hold a floor vote TODAY which would overturn a 20-year moratorium on sulfide-ore copper mining on 225,000 acres of Superior National Forest land in the watershed of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) Wilderness in northern Minnesota. The Boundary Waters is the most visited Wilderness in the United States.
🛶 Enjoying the Minnesotan/Canadian wilderness by canoe or other lesser watercraft is one of our nations greatest available pastimes, and one I have personally enjoyed my entire life. We must protect these public lands from the rapacious capitalists threatening to turn them into a poisoned wasteland.
•This vote in Congress would open the door to copper mining at the headwaters of this entire ecosystem. This kind of mining produces toxic pollution, including acid runoff and heavy metals, that can contaminate nearby waters.
•The Boundary Waters supports a major outdoor economy that sustains thousands of jobs and generates over a billion dollars a year - built on clean water and intact public lands. But this vote would clear the way for toxic mining that puts all of that at risk. It would also set a dangerous precedent, making it easier to roll back protections for public lands across the country, including wilderness areas, national monuments, and national parks.
•This is a defining moment. If you care about clean water, public lands, and protecting places we can’t replace, now is the time to speak up.
•Protect the Boundary Waters, and vote NO on House Joint Resolution 140. Let’s save this treasured place for all of us—forever. https://t.co/JhNAR6Za2O
The banana peel you tossed on the trail is going to get a bear killed.
Every single apple core and orange peel left on a trail teaches a nearby bear that human hiking trails are a food source.
In bears, it is almost always fatal.
Wildlife managers have a phrase for it: "A fed bear is a dead bear."
Once a bear associates humans with food it keeps coming back. It gets bolder. It approaches campsites. It gets too close to people.
At that point there is no rehabilitation, no relocation that reliably works. The bear gets euthanized.
The bear didn't do anything wrong. It learned exactly what we taught it.
Leave no trace means leave no trace.
Pack it in. Pack it out. Every time.
The Tongass is the worlds largest intact temperate rain forest IN THE WORLD, and a globally significant ecosystem as it serves as a major carbon sink, storing more biomass per acre than many tropical jungles.
You don't hate this regime enough.

BREAKING: Republican Senator Kennedy just blamed Trump the government shutdown!
"The Democrats have offered to open up everything but ICE. Ted Cruz and I said, ‘OK let’s accept their offer…’ Senator Thune submitted that to President Trump. As is his right, [Trump] said ‘No! No deals with the Democrats.’ It would have worked. We could have had TSA paid by the end of the week but the President said ‘no deal.’”
This is the DONALD TRUMP SHUTDOWN!
Even Republicans are acknowledging it.
The airports that refused to run it cited the Hatch Act by name. Portland said it clearly: public assets cannot be used for political messaging. This is the second shutdown, the second video, the second time airports had to explain federal law to a federal agency. The line was crossed. The law is clear.
In the dramatic circumstances of war, information must guard against the risk of turning into propaganda. It is every journalist's duty to verify the news, so as not to become a megaphone for power. They must show the suffering that war always brings to populations, which entails showing the face of war and recounting it through the eyes of victims.

One billion board feet per year... 20 days to make your voice heard.
They filter drinking water for downstream communities. They hold soil on steep slopes above salmon streams that are already in crisis. They’re home to the northern spotted owl, the marbled murrelet, coho salmon, steelhead, and hundreds of species that evolved over millennia in conditions you can’t replicate by planting seedlings in rows.

That money was enough to save the lives of more than 3 million children worldwide, with nutritional paste for malnutrition, bed nets against malaria, vaccination programs and community health workers. Instead we spent it blowing up people and things, and raising gas prices.
