The comparison to "unfilmable" House of Leaves is understandable.

But keep in mind the key aspect of HoL isn't the environment - it's the frame in a frame in a frame mutability of the act of reading. The intention being to zen koan shock the reader into feeling that we're in just another frame and at risk.

To present a movie like the novel is presented - the HoL movie would have the audience wandering the theater, seeing part of it in a broom closet, part of it on the side of the building in the alley, part of it projected onto the audience.

Then some of the movie is a camera aimed at the audience.

The novel is far more than "oooh spooky house of uncanny dimensions".
