Her tone became bashful despite herself, cheeks turning a subtle pink before she willed herself to turn. It was one thing to honestly yearn for Evernight's presence, but another entirely to be so touchy outright.

There was the hint of blush already crawling up her cheeks, but that smile only seemed to grow larger nonetheless. Seeing her knight. . . no matter the occasion, it always brought her immense joy to be in her presence.

Nobody was effective as she was. Carrying out tasks, and handling the rough around the edges kind of business that kept gazing eyes away from the one whom she deemed more valuable and precious than this world deserved.
