• My Astrophotography Photos , Australia 🇦🇺 • Sharing the shots I take with anyone interested in Astronomy and Space. Equipment: 8”sct on avx, zwo174mm cool.
SpaceX just launched 60 new satellites, which have been spotted as a chain of bright lights across the sky. As more are launched and orbits change, this could be a very big problem for ground-based astronomy. Musk’s offhand “they can’t be seen at night” is not true or reassuring.
People occasionally ask what is the societal worth of astronomy. Looking at the sky is a fundamental animal and human right. Animals navigate via star and moonlight. Humans do too but our wonder at the night sky is our birthright, a connection to our ancestors and other cultures.
I’m not dead. Here is a shot of NGC 4945 I took a couple of days ago. I’m a bit rusty but you know, always learning. #Astrophotography#ngc4945#astronomy
I left the weather in the left image for the weather in the right image. I’m missing central Australia pretty bad right now, I’ve got to get back there soon.
A shot of the lunar eclipse coming to an end. At this point it was only a few degrees above the horizon so we had to switch lenses quickly to capture it in between some trees near Uluru. #lunareclipse2018
Same shot of the blood moon and Mars opposition (28th July 2018) over Uluru but I made a few adjustments because it was a little dark for phone screens. Hopefully this is better for everybody. #uluru#Australia#Astrophotography
Blood moon and Mars opposition over Uluru. This was a family collaboration and took a fair amount of planning. Shots taken in 5min intervals until sunrise and composited into one shot. #BloodMoon2018#MoonEclipse2018#Astrophotography#ularu
@IbnulHussaini Don’t feel too bad. The wind should calm down and you’ll get an awesome shot. I’ve always said I’d love an observatory though, if you have the time and money you should build one.
