Not everyone has a library with an arrangement with the publisher to reduce costs. Not every library has enough money to pay for every paper to be published, so established researchers will get priority at every level.

I’ve published three, nearly four, papers with MNRAS throughout my PhD which will form my thesis. The decision to introduce £2500 fees to publish would mean I would have only been able to afford a single publication across my PhD

All these flew by in only 45 minutes. Unfortunately @elonmusk has not kept his word to reduce satellite brightness. Even if you go to the darkest skies possible, this light pollution from above is becoming inescapable.
