The answer to The Gotti Vault was written down before the first clue went out. Then it was run through SHA-256 and published as a 64-character string.
A hash is one-way. You cannot read the answer out of it. Nobody can. But when the hunt closes, we publish the answer in plain text, you run it through the same function yourself, and the output either matches the string we posted on day one or it does not.
That is the entire point. We cannot move the goalposts. We cannot invent a winner after the fact. We cannot decide in September that the answer was something else all along. The commitment is public, and it is dated.

@brisology@KCCrypto369 I agree with Brisology. The HEX system is designed to punish careless investors and reward careful investors. You’re essentially ‘playing god’ by intervening. Might seem like a noble cause at first but its messing with the mechanics.

Two million copies sold. Nobody won it fairly. The man who dug it up in 1982 had been told roughly where to look by someone close to the artist. Two teachers had solved the puzzle honestly months earlier, wrote letters, then decided not to send them.
That is the failure mode every treasure hunt inherits. A puzzle is only as strong as its resistance to knowing the right person.
