Every time I think about it, it breaks my heart. He put so much trust in his team, his crew, and turns out they are the one who tries to suffocate him so desperately.
🚨 Russell’s engineer Marcus lied to him, claiming that the penalty had already been cleared, causing him to miss a second opportunity to serve it. Was this instruction coming from Mercedes? 🚨
After Leclerc hit the wall, a red flag wasn't immediately shown. Under yellow flags, drivers still had to pit and navigate around the final corner as before.
Russell voluntarily offered to serve a stop-and-go penalty in the pits to clear his time. He was 12 seconds ahead of Gasly when he pitted, so even after serving it, he wouldn't lose position.
Marcus told him the penalty had been cleared and to wait for Race Control to update.
Seeing this confirms: Russell really was the faster Mercedes almost all throughout, only at T12 did he lose time to AKA12 due to different racing lines. While Piastri's race engineer informed him how he was losing track position to Lando at T12, Dudley simply couldn't.
Why do I believe this cannot simply be explained by the “traditional origin” of the colour?
Mercedes has consistently used 🩵💙on social media to distinguish between RUS and ANT, yet they have repeatedly used the wrong colour on posts about RUS. Now we’re heading to Silverstone, RUS’s home race, and he doesn’t even seem to have a dedicated personal fan event. Almost everything is being presented as a team event. That wasn’t the case in Italy last year.
Given the way RUS has been treated across multiple areas recently, I can’t help viewing this with the deepest suspicion. Someone who isn’t familiar with the context could easily see these clothes, notice that they’re the same colour as ANT’s cap💙, and assume the people wearing them are ANT 💙fans. In doing so, it further diminishes RUS’s presence at his own home race.
And perhaps that’s exactly why they chose this shade of blue as ANT’s signature colour in the first place. It gives them a more legitimate way to create this kind of ambiguity later on, allowing them to blur the lines between support for RUS, support for the team, and support for ANT.
This is also exactly what Mercedes’ social media has been doing recently. Regardless of whether RUS outperforms ANT, they consistently publish more content about ANT than they do about RUS.
Just imagine it. At Silverstone, RUS’s home race, a grandstand full of 63 fans wearing clothing in ANT’s signature colour. To the cameras, whose fans would that crowd look like?
So if you do buy these clothes, please wear a cap in RUS’s colour as well🩵.
1. Nico Rosberg, just like Toto Wolff, is a businessman. Most of the time, what they say is influenced by their own interests, and Nico has had a financial interest in ANT’s success for years.
2. If ANT truly had the pace advantage over RUS, he would have passed him much earlier. Instead, it took him more than 30 laps just to get close, and he still couldn’t get by on track. By lap 28, he had already exceeded track limits four times, and investigations later showed that several additional track limit violations had been removed from the FIA record. On pure pace, he was never realistically going to catch Hamilton either.
3. Mercedes compromised RUS’s race through both strategy and car performance. They kept him uninformed about the strategic picture in order to help ANT close the gap, which is why RUS spent the first stint managing his tyres. Then, after switching to the hard tyre, he was forced to continue with a damaged front wing. That is the real reason ANT was eventually able to get past him.
nico rosberg to german media (aktuell)
“mercedes gave george to much consideration - too much protection. the moment the team risks losing the win, you race together for team’s result. and mercedes should have done that sooner. antonelli was faster again in the race. in qualifying russell can mix it with the best, but in the race there’s something missing.”

“Ladies first” and “we’ve done enough of that today” Mercedes media team and kimi antonelli mocking george (the most polite person and a driver of their team) and making those type of jokes???
Looking back to Mercedes’ debrief from 2025 Canada (and that’s the 1st win of the year), his team never acknowledged his achievement and high performance, never.
