@RBMD1982@jbarro Because doctors relate to patients in an especially personal way, if they compromise their professionalism for the sake face of commercial incentives, they can contribute to public cynicism more than other lines of work. A trustworthy doctor can do more good than you might think!
@RichCimini Overly negative take from @RichCimini A loss is a loss but Fields looked good and it took a 58 yard field goal to beat them. Hurt by Gipson’s fumble and too many long pass plays. Potentially fixable. It’s a long season. On to Buffalo.
Having a doctor who supports your health, life and work goals makes a big difference. This morning we’re hearing from four oncologists who know how important that is: Dr. Alan Astrow, Dr. Victoria Blinder, Dr. Brian Keith McNeil and Dr. Ruth Oritz

This essay of mine, “Thinking about Hope in the Care of Cancer Patients,” was just published in the Hastings Center Report @hastingscenter https://t.co/NBI88clfJ4
"Clinicians can then broaden the conversation by asking, as appropriate, more open-ended spiritual questions such as, “How are you holding up?” “What are your deepest hopes?” “What sense, if any, can you make of all this?” Following the patient’s lead, they can then move to more specific questions such as, “Are you at peace?” “Do you realize you are still valued and cherished no matter how sick you are?” “Is there anyone to whom you need to say ‘I love you,’ or ‘Goodbye’?”

@ramsedhom@ASCOPres Agree. Second opinions can be helpful but not always. For the patient referenced in the @WSJ article it appears that the radiation therapy recommended by @huntsmancancer did not benefit the patient as he soon relapsed in the next nodal group.
Benjamin Netanyahu is the worst leader in Jewish history since the Maccabean king who invited the Romans into Jerusalem over 2100 years ago. The Prime Minister is putting the security of Israel, the lives of the hostages, the stability of the region, and longstanding Israeli democratic norms in perilous jeopardy, simply to maintain the stability of his far-right coalition and absolve him of his own legal troubles.
Tomorrow's address is the next step in a long line of manipulative bad-faith efforts by Republicans to further politicize the U.S.-Israel relationship for partisan gain and is a cynical stunt by Netanyahu aimed at aiding his own desperate political standing at home. There is no question in my mind it should not be happening.
Still, I have not given up on the dream of an Israel that can live in peace with its neighbors, including with Palestinians, through a negotiated two-state solution.
My statement on my decision to attend tomorrow's joint address:

@JohnBJudis Understood, you don’t like AIPAC. But are you supporting Bowman? Hasn’t he made terrible decisions, made many ill-considered remarks, and taken wrong-headed positions? Do you think he’s the best of the two candidates to represent this district?
Sentiments from Dr. Alan Astrow’s (@astrowalanmd) #ASCO24 presentation were referenced in a @Medscape patient story on the importance of hope for #cancer patients: https://t.co/kpg7U2HAQb
