The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has secured a historic win in the Saxony-Anhalt state election, raising concerns among migrants about an impending rise in anti-immigrant sentiment. The party won 44% of the vote. Even before the vote, Saxony-Anhalt's refugee council had warned that many foreign-born residents were already experiencing racism and social exclusion, according to the Agence France-Presse news agency. The organization cautioned that increasingly harsh political rhetoric, including calls for mass deportations, had created fear and uncertainty among migrant communities. Many fear that the prospect of five years of an AfD-led government could bear significant consequences for minorities in the state.. All allover the EU, asylum is now being used as a political tool to gain civic support, turning asylum seekers into victims of racial, harsh, politically influenced circumstances.

Sweden's new migration laws are so vague that people don’t know what might be used against them.

Immigration has dominated the campaign ahead of Sweden’s general election on 13 September. In June, the centre-right government, which depends on a far-right party to govern, pushed three changes to migration laws through parliament, all of which took effect in July. People with asylum status can no longer obtain permanent residence, residence permits can now be revoked over conduct that is not criminal, and public agencies must report undocumented people to the police.

'No one shall be subjected to inhuman or degrading treatment, no one shall be held in slavery or servitude'. Asylum is now used as a labour source for many of the western countries, providing as an engine powering the western world’s unskilled work-economy and contributing to a significant percentage of State taxes in these giant States. The 'MONEY' accumulated in this case goes round again to finance arms in global wars that generate asylum seekers, justifying how Asylum is now both systemic and systematic.

Under the UK government’s proposed Immigration and Asylum Bill introduced by Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, individuals granted refugee status will be required to repay a flat-rate sum of around £10,000 toward their taxpayer-funded housing and subsistence costs. The Global Asylum Seeker Human Rights Defenders Committee (GASHDC) has strongly criticized the plan, calling it an unfair tax on vulnerable people fleeing war and persecution who are trying to rebuild their lives. Many newly recognized refugees struggle with low initial wages, making a £10,000 debt an unrealistic barrier to stability.

Worldwide, anti-immigration sentiment is on the rise, and asylum seekers are continuously facing harsh raids and confrontation. With heightening far-right activism, every day the line between suicide and life becomes thinner, asylum seekers walk this line everyday.

Asylum is a fundamental right and an international obligation for countries as recognized in the 1951 Geneva Convention on the protection of refugees. Countries have a responsibility to welcome asylum seekers in a dignified manner, to ensure that they are treated fairly following UN certified standards. Procedures must be fair, effective and impervious to abuse.
