No, it's because of a fundamental limitation of the procedure lmao. "Transphobes" are going out and fucking up surgeries and no amount of funding will solve the inherent limitations of biology.
People are welcome to live their lives as they choose, but they should be honest about what they're doing. They're not getting a vagina, they're undergoing surgery to get a crude facsimile of one. They're not a "woman", they're a man with a fetish.
The research that medical transition helps trans people has actually been thoroughly debunked (and frankly was shaky to begin with). Suicide rates stay the same, rates of depression and anxiety stay the same, etc. Yet we still have children, teenager, and young adults who are convinced by society that they MUST castrate themselves and pay out the ass for surgeries if they ever want to be happy.
It's a cruel state of affairs that we're not giving trans people the help they actually need, which is mental health care. When an anorexic patient says they think they're fat, we don't say "damn you're right" and give them liposuction. The affirmation and medicalization of trans peoples self-delusions are truly no different than that. That's far crueler than me saying some mean words.
@_wee_bee_@msssry_ Vaginoplasty has a notoriously long and difficult recovery period with months or even years of dilation required where it never fully heals. After that long period, assuming no major complication, sure he’ll then have a cavity, not a wound. It’ll be a wound for quite a while tho
@zrlssi@LGBMike i recommend you take a closer look at those studies lmao. They don't prove your point, they're loosely correlative at best, small sample sizes, and don't control for common comorbidities (autism, etc).
@PTElephant The same people that say this also say it should be legal to buy heroin at gas stations (I've literally heard that one before). So some of them are ideologically consistent at least, even if that ideology is bananas.
They probably have correctly realized that advocating for a murderer in and open and shut murder case is a bad look for the social justice movement and will do far more harm than good.
Normal people who see the outrage about Karmelo's sentencing when he's obviously guilty are just going "ooookay then" and will be far less likely to care or empathize the next time a black person is ACTUALLY persecuted by the justice system.
By trying to stand up for this murderer you're actually doing far more harm to race relations and the black community than good. FAR more harm.
@BreannaMorello You just know this guy is gonna tell everyone how he was wrongfully arrested and persecuted for "being a black man that dared to speak up" while casually leaving out the illegal weapon possession and antagonistic behavior lmao
@jess_ann_pin No obviously cultural norms and practices have no impact on how the people living in those cultures perceive themselves and the world around them
(huge /s for sarcasm)
@girlvanished Yeah its just an unfortunate reality. Like the top 5% of women athletically would still struggle to take on an average guy in the 50th percentile of men.
