We used to have huge arguments over whether Doom or Descent was better, almost entirely hinging on the graphics.

I didn’t really “get” full 3D in its early days.

I remember my friend, giddy with excitement, showing me the alpha of Quake. He would shoot off grenades in an empty room and go “Particles! It’s got particles!”

I was confused as I thought the flat sprite explosions of Doom looked better. I didn’t understand what Quake meant.

@Emilysc27180583 It took months before I could play it myself as I also have a mac and i couldn’t even ply the files Tim sent me directly. In the end I bought an OEM licence for Windows and used Boot Camp just to play it! 😅

@Emilysc27180583 Sadly, no, despite the fact it was created on a Mac! It’s all down to how Apple now approaches security and the back-end Tim uses to create the game being “out of date” for that system.
