#Flydubai spokesperson told The National:
1. The airline could not disclose the nationalities of the two pilots
2. The circumstances would only become clear once investigators had access to the black boxes
3. The aircraft’s rudder had been damaged but there were no serious injuries among the passengers
A salute to Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.
Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, opened the cockpit door and helped passengers and crew overpower the attacker, preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster and saving 174 lives.
We all are praying for his speedy recovery.
Our Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddah have been following the health condition of Mr Smit Machchhar, the brave Indian pilot of Flydubai flight that was diverted to Tabuk today. He is admitted in a hospital in Tabuk city in northwest Saudi Arabia and receiving necessary medical attention. A full update on his health is awaited but he is reported to be in stable condition. We hope that he recovers from his injuries at the earliest. We are in touch with his family and assure them that we will continue to follow up on his health with Saudi authorities and extend all possible assistance for his wellbeing.
@MEAIndia
My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.
Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.
He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.
I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.
He is a true hero.
Here is what we know so far about Flydubai Flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Israel:
1- The plane was carrying Israelis. No reports say whether they were ordinary Israeli citizens or Israeli army personnel vacationing in the UAE.
Israeli army personnel have previously posted about vacations in the UAE following their service in Gaza (photo 1)
2- The Flydubai pilot was an Indian Hindu named Smit Machchhar. Initial Hebrew media reports described him as Emirati citizen.
3- The co-pilot is Omani. He allegedly stabbed the pilot and attempted to dive and crash the plane with Israeli passengers, resulting in a fight between the 2 pilots. Smit eventually managed to unlock the cockpit door.
4- Passengers intervened and subdued the Omani co-pilot, while additional pilots aboard the flight took control of the plane and landed it safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia.
5- The Israeli passengers received care from a Saudi crew after landing in Saudi Arabia.
6- The Emirati based Indian pilot, Smit Machchhar, was hospitalized after suffering stab wounds, but his condition has not been officially disclosed.
The Omani co-pilot was arrested, and Saudi authorities are interrogating him. Mossad is reportedly involved in the broader investigation, but there is no confirmation that Mossad interrogated him in Saudi Arabia. (Hebrew media)
7- Israeli media initially reported that El Al was planning to evacuate the Israeli passengers from Saudi Arabia to Israel, which would have marked the first overt El Al flight between the 2 countries. However, reportedly Flydubai later sent a replacement aircraft that evacuated the Israeli passengers from Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, directly to Israel.
Guys, I know that for genuine tourists, the amount of documentation required for a Schengen visa can feel insane.
But I think the context here is important. India is a massive country with huge economic inequality, and there are people who try to use tourist visas to overstay, work illegally, or immigrate through other routes.
So the genuine tourist ends up being clubbed into a much larger risk pool.
Most of us applying for a tourist visa simply want to go on a holiday and come back. But we're still a relatively small segment of the overall population.
It's frustrating, but this is probably the price we pay for the larger immigration risk associated with our passport.
For years, Ahimsa has earned the confidence of producers, cinemas and fans by keeping its word. When that confidence is threatened, we have a duty to speak up.
Deepa Iyer and Sudharsan Natesan once held positions of responsibility at Ahimsa. They used those positions to deceive the company and take more than ₹10 crore that was never theirs. The moment we uncovered it, both were removed.
They have not repaid a single rupee, and every bit of that money is still owed. We were not their only targets, and we refuse to let others walk into the same trap unaware. Neither of them has any link to Ahimsa, and we urge every producer, distributor, exhibitor and investor to keep them well away from their business.
They may have taken our money, but they cannot escape what they did. Karma settles every score.
Deepa Iyer and her husband Sudharsan Natesan were once part of Ahimsa. Several years ago, we discovered that they are frauds. They defrauded this company, lied to us repeatedly and took money that belonged to Ahimsa. Both were terminated as soon as we found out. The financial damage they caused was serious, and we are still dealing with it today. They have no connection with Ahimsa and they never will again.
We are not their only victims. They have done this to other people and they will do it again. So we are making this completely clear: do not work with Deepa or Sudharsan. Not now, not ever. Do not hire them. Do not partner with them. Do not invest with them. Do not give them money or access to your business under any circumstances. They are dishonest and they cannot be trusted.
If you know anyone in the industry who might come into contact with them, share this with them. Everyone needs to know.

Hi @svembu
Arrattai needs to become something WhatsApp cannot easily replicate.
In case if you are not considering this strategy. You can consider this as well.
My 5-point strategy:
1. Privacy-first — No ads, no selling user data, India-first data residency.
2. Arattai Business OS — Connect Arattai + Zoho CRM + Books + Inventory + Desk.
3. Payments + Mini Apps — Chat → Discover → Order → Pay → Service, all inside Arattai.
4. AI + Meetings — Private AI summaries, translation, tasks, CRM automation and 250-person meetings.
5. Creator ecosystem — Channels + subscriptions + commerce + direct audience ownership.
Don’t position Arattai as “Indian WhatsApp.”
Position it as:
ARATTAI — Talk. Work. Pay. Build. Privacy-first communication built in India for the world.
WhatsApp has the network effect.
Zoho has the business ecosystem.
One private communication platform.
And the underlying Zoho ecosystem becomes:
Arattai
→ Communication
Zoho CRM
→ Customer
Zoho Books
→ Money
Zoho Inventory
→ Products
Zoho Desk
→ Support
Zoho Meeting
→ Collaboration
Zoho Analytics
→ Intelligence
This is the strategic advantage Meta doesn’t naturally have.
Turn that ecosystem into Arattai’s moat.
The goal shouldn’t be to get people to uninstall WhatsApp. The goal should be to make Arattai useful enough that people start opening it every day—even while WhatsApp remains installed.
