After 8½ years of advocacy & litigation I recovered the 843 acres (341.2 HA) piece of government land in Busia County from fraudsters who had stolen it and I restored it to the public. ... {Nasewa Land, a thread}
They say books won’t change the world. Tell that to every colonizer who burned them. To every enslaved person who was punished for reading. Literacy is resistance. Literacy is liberation. The library is a battlefield.
Former Treasury CS Njuguna Ndungu has confirmed what Kenyans already know. Ruto has reduced state institutions into frightened departments that obey him without question.
So if I purchase a DVD and digitize it, that’s copyright infringement. But if an AI company buys my book and scans it to train their system, that’s perfectly fine? Once again, corporations are allowed to play by their own rules. I’m so sick of the hypocrisy.
The bill Ruto is pushing MPs to pass — which bars the media from livestreaming election results — is dead on arrival. We must reject it by every means necessary.
Members of Parliament are openly confessing how they took bribes to undertake a constitutional process & yet nothing will happen to them. No inquiries. No investigations. Nothing. In fact, even journalists interviewing them are laughing about it like it is a joke. I give up!
There's what is called the Water Act 2016.
As a parliamentary bill,it was sponsored by one Aden Duale.
Remember this is the same Duale coming from a region facing water scarcity.
This Act is meant to make it hard for Kenyans to own boreholes.
For you to drill a borehole on your own land,
You need to pay for a drilling permit given to you after paying for and submitting a hydrogeological survey groundwater map.
Do you know where it gets even more scary?
That the government, will install a smart meter on your pipes, and charge you for every cubic meter of water you pump from the borehole you drilled using your own money in your own land.
In other words, you only own the soil.
If we do not revolt, we will be slaves forever.
