It was both an honour and a pleasure to host Astronaut Owolabi Salis, Nigeria's first astronaut. We engaged in fascinating discussions about how to advance Nigeria beyond the skies. -AA
Responsibility and accountability are key departments of leadership. When leaders wield power, it must be done for public good and not to oppress and intimidate citizens. It is against this backdrop that President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT needs to review the political persecution of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai @elrufai. Yes, it is a political persecution under the guise of a sham legal trial. The former Kaduna State Governor is a political prisoner who has now spent 144 days in custody. Tinubu needs to reflect on the transient nature of power and do the needful.
My position is not borne out of the fact that el-Rufai is a leading figure in the coalition ADC. But because he is a Nigerian citizen, who deserves to be treated fairly and with dignity, in accordance to the oath of office of the President. This same position would have been canvassed if el-Rufai were of the ruling party or of no party. I think it is beneath the President's office to use instruments of the state to cause for the perpetual detention of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai.
The least President Tinubu can do is to heed the passionate appeal of el-Rufai's wives and release him unconditionally.

The ADC Position on the PFIPC Scandal
“Based on the Presidency's own statement, and the documentary evidence already in the public domain, we have identified at least ten government individuals and institutions that must be investigated if we must unravel the mystery behind this major scandal that in saner climes would have ended so many people’s political careers…”
Earlier today, I had the pleasure of receiving H.E. Rt. Hon. @ChibuikeAmaechi, CON, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and his team.
Our meeting provided another opportunity to reflect on the enormous responsibility before us as we work with other patriotic Nigerians to build a broad, united, and credible platform capable of restoring hope, strengthening our democracy, and offering our people the purposeful leadership they deserve.
I congratulate H.E. Rt. Hon. Amaechi on his emergence as the Vice Presidential Candidate of our great party. His wealth of experience in public service, unwavering commitment to democratic ideals, and passion for a better Nigeria will undoubtedly enrich our collective mission.
I also warmly welcome today's judgment of the Federal High Court affirming the legitimacy of the Senator David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress. The judgment is a victory not only for our party but also for the rule of law, constitutional democracy, and the sanctity of due process.
With this legal uncertainty now laid to rest, we can devote our full attention to the important task of building a stronger, more united party and presenting Nigerians with a credible alternative founded on justice, inclusion, competence, and national renewal.
The journey ahead requires sacrifice, unity of purpose, and unwavering commitment. I remain confident that, together, we shall continue to strengthen our democracy and advance the aspirations of the Nigerian people.
May Almighty God continue to guide our efforts and bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. – AWT

PRESS STATEMENT
FEDERAL HIGH COURT THROWS OUT ABEJIDE’S CASE AGAINST ADC
- Laid to rest lingering court cases on party's leadership
SUMMARY OF THE COURT’S DECISION
Hon. Justice M. S. Liman of the Federal High Court has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to give Senator David Mark and other NWC members of the ADC recognition as duly elected National Officers of the ADC.
Hon. Justice Liman, in delivering his judgment in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1637/2025; Between: HON. LEKE JOSEPH ABEJIDE VS. AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS & 4 ORS.; held that:
i. The case borders on the internal affairs of the ADC, and the court therefore lacks jurisdiction to entertain same;
ii. The case is not a pre-election matter and falls outside the scope of the Federal High Court’s jurisdiction under Section 251 of the 1999 Constitution;
iii. The Plaintiff lacks locus standi to institute the case;
iv. The Plaintiff failed to exhaust the mandatory internal remedy provided under the ADC Constitution.
The Court then struck out the case for lack of jurisdiction. In delivering his judgment on the merits, Hon. Justice Liman held that Senator David Mark and other members of the ADC National Working Committee were duly elected and ordered INEC to give due recognition to them.
OUR POSITION
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) welcomes this judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, striking out the suit for want of jurisdiction, while also dismissing the Plaintiff’s claims on their merits.
This judgment, once again, affirms our clear position that the issue of leadership remains an internal affair of the party and is therefore not justiciable, especially in the light of the Electoral Act, 2022; and that the emergence of the current leadership of our great party, led by Senator David Mark, was carried out in accordance with the law and the Constitution of the ADC.
While we view this ruling as yet another victory for multiparty democracy in Nigeria, it is our hope that this judgment will help bring to an end all the unnecessary distractions and attempts at judicial manipulation by those who are hell-bent on destabilising the opposition and foisting a one-party rule on the country.
At a time when millions of Nigerians are confronted daily with worsening insecurity, an unbearable cost of living, rising unemployment and declining economic opportunities, our responsibility as a serious opposition party is to present practical solutions as alternatives to the people, not to be bogged down by contrived legal challenges.
Even as we celebrate this victory in court, we remain vigilant, convinced that anti-democratic forces remain active and motivated to continue to pursue their inglorious agenda against the Nigerian people.
We commend the courage shown by the presiding judge in standing firmly on the side of justice. We commend, especially, the Judge’s decision to award fines against the Plaintiff and his lawyers, hoping that this measure will serve as a deterrent to those who may want to pursue such frivolous actions in the future.
We thank our members, supporters and millions of Nigerians who have continued to stand with the party. We urge them to remain focused, united and confident as we continue this journey together.

KENNETH OKONKWO APPOINTED THE SPOKESPERSON FOR HIS EXCELLENCY ATIKU ABUBAKAR
I give God all the glory to be appointed by His Excellency Atiku Abubakar as his Spokesperson. I thank HE AA for the immense confidence reposed in me.
This appointment speaks volume of the democratic credentials of HE AA. Rather than pick offence against any of his associates for expressing genuine reservations of any action taken, HE AA always opts for dialogue and compromise that will engender solution to problems.
At a dialogue with HE AA and other well meaning members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the interests of the South-East have been discussed and guaranteed within the existing challenges posed by the Electoral Act, 2026, and the realities on the ground.
I extend special thanks to my brother and friend, Dr Kashim Imam CFR, for his kind and special intervention and counsel which revealed a special place for all Nigerians irrespective of place of origin, ethnicity, religion, sex, age, or cultural affiliations in the emerging political scenario.
My gratitude extends to Mr Ralphs Nwosu, former National Chairman of ADC, for his continuous sacrifice which has assisted in consolidating the ADC to face the numerous challenges put in its way since the formation of the coalition.
My regards to Dr Ekene Onwuka, SSA to HE AA on Special Duties, for his efforts towards raising a formidable team to ensure the election of HE AA come 2027.
My sincere gratitude to my family, fans, and friends for their support and prayers which God answered in covering my errors and colouring my efforts to pave way for this appointment. I still covet your prayers for wisdom, courage, provision, and protection needed to carry out this challenging post which will usher in a glorious and great Nigeria.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Kenneth Okonkwo
Spokesperson for HE AA.
Today, H.E. Atiku Abubakar hosted H.E. Rotimi Amaechi for a closed-door meeting.
I really admire the synergy between them. Nigeria would be lucky to have leaders of such unquestionable character, integrity, and experience.
Obidients will think it’s Ai cos according to them “Amaechi said AA is unelectable and VP position is beneath him” meanwhile Peter Obi gladly accepted same position previously
We are pleased to announce that we have successfully uploaded the names and particulars of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar (GCON), and our Vice Presidential Candidate, Rotimi Amaechi (CON), to the nomination portal of the @INECNigeria.
This marks another important step in our preparations for the 2027 general election and our commitment to offer Nigerians a credible alternative built on competence, unity, and national renewal.

PRESS RELEASE
Plot to Deregister NDC: Tinubu's Dangerous One-Party State Agenda - Atiku
Former Vice President of Nigeria and Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar has described the attempt to deregister the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), through judicial means, as evidence of the desperate determination of President Bola Tinubu to impose a de facto one-party state in Nigeria, against the democratic wishes and aspirations of Nigerians.
Reacting to the development, Atiku said that he is not surprised by the disturbing situation, which may have grave consequences if the sinister plot to weaken opposition parties in order to help Tinubu have his way in the 2027 election, comes to fruition.
According to Atiku, the participation of citizens in a free, fair and credible poll is the soul of democracy and any attempt to stifle such freedom of choice could be a trigger to chaos and anarchy.
The ADC Presidential candidate explained further that: "Nigerians are now seeing the true colours of President Tinubu, who pretends to be a democrat, but his body language and the sinister activities of his agents contradict his mouthed commitment to free and fair elections."
The Waziri of Adamawa urged Tinubu to borrow a leaf from the late President Muhammadu Buhari, who despite being a retired military officer turned politician, never deregistered any opposition party. Ditto for former President Goodluck Jonathan, who lived by a non-violent mantra that political ambition should not be worth the blood of any citizen.
"If you're truly popular and your policies have positively bettered the lives of the citizens, you shouldn't be afraid of a free and fair competition," Atiku reminded Tinubu.
"Tinubu cannot be a champion of democracy under military dictatorship and now become the worst enemy of everything that democracy stands for."
"You can't attempt to rule the people against their will and still pretend that you're committed to free and fair elections in 2027," Atiku stated.
The former Vice President also advised judges "to resist being used by dishonorable politicians who are bent on destroying the hard-earned democracy in the country.
"Governments will come and go. Hence, the judiciary must guard her integrity as the last hope of the masses. Don't allow unscrupulous politicians to stain your reputation for their own short-term gain at the expense of justice. The judiciary is the last hope of the people. Let's avoid anything that is capable of ruining the credibility and reputation of our courts; not for a messy pot of pottage or love of lucre.
"There are great judges in Nigeria, but the unchecked excesses of some who allow themselves to become judicial swords on the hands of politicians, are capable of damaging the larger image of the judiciary," Atiku said.

27 June 2026.
His Excellency Atiku Abubakar joyfully returned to Nigeria after a brief overseas trip, greeted warmly by enthusiastic supporters and numerous well-wishers.
After that happened on Saturday, i am sure a lot more people are now coming to terms with what will happen in 2027. Some of us have been writing as early as 2025, even 2024, when we heard about a possible coalition, and we kept urging that there was a need for a united opposition. But i realized that, every time we said that, it triggered a lot of people, especially the Obidients. They are always the first to come for you, denigrate, and throw around insults because you did not say give it to Peter Obi.
Today, the reality is unfolding right before our eyes. For people who still think the NDC is about anything, that's blatant wishful thinking. I'll be hard on the NDC because we know the reality on the ground: the NDC wasn't going to get any traction, as you cannot form a party a year before an election. Even the ADC, a more established party, is still struggling to get the needed traction and national name recognition. An example is the PDP, which is everywhere and a household name. It takes a lot of serious building and financing. The more reason Wike and President Tinubu ensured the death of the PDP because they know the party has the structure, name recognition, and Nationwide visibility.
We warned, but were constantly insulted. My advice, if it is not too late, the opposition must find a way to work together. The opposition working at cross purposes is a gift to the incumbent APC. How anyone fails to see this fact is quite beyond me. Unfortunately, this is where we are today!
