3 impedance calc mistakes (we catch these on 60% of jobs):

1. Nominal Dk — FR4 shifts to 3.8 at 10GHz (15% error)
2. Etch factor — 5mil trace = 4.2mil after etch
3. Soldermask adds 2-4 ohms on microstrips

Fix inputs, not tools.

Tg150 vs Tg170 decision:

Board >1.6mm + 2 or more reflow cycles? Spec Tg170.

Tg150 risks delamination by the 3rd pass. Premium is only 2-4 cents/cm2. Cheaper than a respin.

6L impedance cost tip: try asymmetric prepreg (1080-2116-3313). Same Z0, 8-12% less laminate cost.

Catch: check CTE balance for bow. Ask your fab if they model asymmetric stackups — the answer tells you a lot.
