We are deeply saddened by the passing of Damir Ibrahimović (1965–2025), a Bosnian film producer and co-founder of the production company Deblokada. For more than three decades, Damir was a driving force of Bosnian-Herzegovinian cinema.
Damir will be remembered above all for his work on “Quo Vadis, Aida?”, a film that gave voice to the truth of the Srebrenica genocide and honoured the memory of its victims with dignity and courage. His belief that the film’s BiH premiere should be held at the Srebrenica Memorial was a profound gesture. Thank you for that.
Together with director Jasmila Žbanić, Damir produced some of the most significant films in post-war Bosnian cinema, including “Grbavica” (winner of the Golden Bear in Berlin), “Na putu (On the Path)”, “Crvene gumene čizmice (Red Rubber Boots)”.... His productions consistently explored how war lingers in people’s lives, and how storytelling can become a form of healing.
Thank you, Damir, for ensuring that through film, the story of Srebrenica, and of those who still carry its pain, will never be forgotten.
