@remyjenney@OrevaZSN "Stayed at the Downtown Best Western. After I got robbed in the parking lot and beat up in the hallway, the ice machine was very conveniently located so that I could right away begin icing down the swelling in my head and chest before the ambulance arrived. Five Stars!"
@BrokeAssStuart Three things:
1. Portlandia has a skit about this so it's not just us.
2. My guess is 90% of those people learned about La Taqueria on the internet and went bc of a high rating.
3. I remember the same phenomenon for weekend brunches even back in the 80s.
@DanMcKe51532719@KhanSaba1278 I don't know why but these are the first three I thought of too, and honestly seems to be the most common group of three among responses.
@chefsevenn Before anyone knows it, I call all my friends and relatives and give them a sob story and desperately ask to borrow $500. When they actually hand over the money I give them the money right back, plus 1,000,000% interest.
@mariana057 AGE 40: Fell off a bike w/o helmet at 5mph left in an ambulance ended up at a hospital.
AGE 50: Fell off a bike w/ helmet at 15 mph fixed my flat rode 20 miles home.
Yeah, I know it's a whole different thing than yours, but there's no bad time to make that point.
@hy4557@MercuriusFilius This is the correct answer. The question asks only about maximizing profit, not minimizing loss. Bid 100, hope it's worth 99 (question says over), and profit 48-1/2.
@MissJilianne The one other thing that ought to be considered is whether small businesses that benefit from tourist traffic will be adversely affected by higher fees from foreigners. My guess is they are not, but this should be studied carefully when setting fees.
@MissJilianne The one that surprised me was the walk in or bicycle per person. Is that really such a drain on our resources that people who ride their bike or walk into the park need to be charged?
Ps- there's no place to park just outside of the entrance area and nothing much just inside.
