Just wrapped up my Devin AI clone 🚀: an autonomous AI coding agent that plans, writes, tests & debugs code in isolated Docker sessions.
Built with Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, and LLM APIs.
Huge thanks to @kirat_tw for the guidance 🙏

🚀 365-day LeetCode streak. Officially done.
100+ badges earned along the way — monthly consistency badges, 50/100/200-day milestones, all through daily grinding.
The real win isn't the badges. It's the habit.
📢 Open to SDE/Backend roles, let's connect!

(32/100) - Background Jobs & Retries
every system eventually needs to do something after the request ends - sending emails, processing files, syncing data.
that’s where background jobs come in.
1. the why
api requests should finish fast. anything slow (3rd-party api calls, pdf generation, uploads) goes to a queue.
this makes apps faster, cheaper, and more reliable.
2. the how
bullmq (redis-based) is the go-to for node apps.
jobs get added to a queue → worker processes them in background → results logged.
you can retry, delay, or prioritize tasks easily.
3. example flow
• user signs up → add “sendWelcomeEmail” to queue
• worker picks it up → calls email api
• fails? → auto-retry 3x with exponential backoff
• after success → log result + mark complete
4. what pros do differently
• idempotency: prevent same job from running twice
• deduplication: hash payloads to avoid duplicates
• monitoring: use Bull Board or custom dashboards
• DLQs: dead-letter queues for failed jobs
5. scale tips
• separate queue by job type (email, sync, webhook)
• use concurrency limits (one worker per cpu)
• persist results in redis only short-term, then clean up
👉🏻 mini project
• express app + bullmq + redis
• queue “send email” job → simulate failures
• implement retries, delays, and DLQ
• visualize queue in bull-board ui
Software Engineers are not paid for writing code.
They’re paid for solving problems.
The faster you accept this, the better your life and career will be.
Unpopular opinion: Software engineering is the only job where the interview is harder than the actual job
Interview: Design a distributed system for 10M users
Job: The login button moved 2 pixels, please fix
