Hon'ble Chief Minister Dr. @himantabiswa's vision has always placed the development and dignity of our rural populace at the heart of Assam's governance. In pursuit of this commitment, I attended a crucial meeting of the Panchayat & Rural Development Department in Guwahati today.
As per direction of the Hon'ble CM, given the recent floods in Upper Assam, we will deploy a high-level departmental delegation to the affected districts. Working in close coordination with the district administration, Zila Parishad & Panchayat representatives, the delegation will conduct a firsthand assessment of the damage and expedite the rebuilding of rural infrastructure, including roads, housing, and community assets, that falls under the P&RD Department's purview. Further action will be taken based on the delegation's report.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of our flagship schemes and the Department's 100-Day Action Plan. Key initiatives discussed included the VB-G RAM-G, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Tea Garden Roads, and the construction of Paver Block Roads in every Gaon Panchayat.
A special focus was laid on the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission, under which our Self Help Groups continue to deliver outstanding results, empowering women and strengthening rural economies across the State.
The Panchayat & Rural Development Department occupies a pivotal role in advancing the socio-economic transformation of rural Assam. I urged all officers to work with renewed sincerity, dedication, and a strong sense of urgency to ensure that inclusive, sustainable, and people-centric development reaches every corner of the State.

I joined the Workshop on the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) held in Guwahati in the august presence of Hon'ble CM Dr. @himantabiswa, along with Hon'ble Agriculture Minister Shri @Pijush_hazarika, fellow Ministers, MLAs, senior officials and other distinguished dignitaries.
The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund can become a catalyst for transforming Assam's rural economy. I firmly believe that the next phase of agricultural growth lies not only in increasing production but also in creating robust post-harvest infrastructure, value addition, processing, storage and stronger market linkages. By converging AIF with the vast network of ASRLM Self-Help Groups, FPOs and rural entrepreneurs, we can create sustainable livelihoods and empower our farmers and women as successful agri-entrepreneurs.
Guided by the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji and the continued support of Hon'ble Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare and Rural Development Shri @ChouhanShivraj Ji, the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund is opening new avenues for strengthening India's agricultural ecosystem.
Under the dynamic leadership of Hon'ble CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam is committed to ensuring these opportunities reach every village through effective convergence among the Agriculture Department, Panchayat & Rural Development Department and other departments, financial institutions and all stakeholders.
I also call upon banks, government departments and implementing agencies to work in close coordination to facilitate timely credit, prepare bankable projects and support aspiring entrepreneurs.
