Even in terms of education, most women end up doing a BA or BBA, not really allowed to be ambitious or imagine a future beyond a husband and two kids. Being discouraged from pursuing STEM or lucrative fields matters a lot.

Pakistani culture going global. I’ve watched this my whole life. women do absolutely nothing. Most women my age are the same. For a woman, ambition is considered a strange quirk. Saving for retirement and future in 20s, 30s is an odd thing, not a norm. Yes some women my age have day jobs, sure, but only until marriage. After that, the plan ends and you are dependent for life.

I get what this tweet is about BUT I've personally never had to use a referral for anything.. After a lot of trials I found a good doctor and car mechanic, I stand in line and wait for my turn in Govt. Offices (for passports, ID cards etc.) and banks..kaam ho jata hai eventually.

In Pakistan you need a connection for everything! Literally you should somehow know the doctor or they'll be dismissive...get a referral for an appointment to get your bank account managed, your plumbing done, your car fixed or you'll be deceived...I'm literally sick of this now

The irony of saying "Pakistan has no culture" and then spending an entire paragraph listing Pakistani culture is genuinely hilarious. Pakistan has thousands of years of history Indus Valley civilisation Punjabi, Sindhi, Baloch, Pashtun, Kashmiri and countless other regional cultures, languages, music, food, traditions and art. A culture doesn’t disappear just because you don’t personally like it. Maybe worry less about what Pakistan is doing and look closer at your own society. India is rapidly adopting Western lifestyles, languages, fashion and entertainment trends. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but pretending your culture is somehow untouched while obsessing over another country is just hypocrisy.

"Pakistanis have no cultural identity" makes no sense to me. It's one of the few places left where wearing native dress is normal in all aspects of life. There's a vernacular humor culture, a drama & music culture, a fashion culture, chai culture, thousands of local traditions
