This is really stupid, and it’s not getting enough attention.
The Trump administration is pulling a working $368 million ocean monitoring system out of the water, equipment taxpayers already bought, built, and sank into the deep ocean.
And they are doing it right when the oceans are behaving in ways that alarm the scientists who study them.
Record-breaking temperatures.
A system of Atlantic currents that may be lurching toward collapse.
The response?
Yank out the instruments and walk away.
That is not budgeting. That is smashing the gauges while the engine is on fire and calling it efficiency.
For what? The Trump administration dressed it up as a “nimbler approach” and “smart lifecycle management,” which is fancy nonsense for “we shut it off and hoped nobody would ask why.” There is no return-on-investment analysis. They cannot show taxpayers save a dime, because the gear is already paid for and the science it produces protects real money and real lives.
The kicker: the same people killing the monitors want to mine the deep sea for minerals. So they are destroying the only tools that could measure what that mining does. That is not an accident.
That is the point. You cannot see the damage if you break the instruments first.

Don’t forget when Rome was collapsing emperors would use Gladiator fights to distract the people from the Corruption of the State at that time! This is all starting to make sense now. Who agrees?
Pete Hegseth—who never ranked higher than Major—is once again ignoring Generals' recommendations and denying merit-based promotions.
For all his bluster about bringing meritocracy back to our military, this unqualified SecDef keeps doing the opposite.
An insult to our troops.
A message to all sane Republicans:
He pardoned 1,600 violent criminals.
You said nothing.
He bulldozed the East Wing.
You said nothing.
He interfered with the release of the Epstein files. You said nothing.
He took over the Kennedy Center and renamed it after himself. You said nothing.
He accepted a $400 million airplane as a personal gift. You said nothing.
He threatened Canada, Cuba, Denmark, Greenland, Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil. You said nothing.
He tariffed just about everyone but Russia, causing inflation and instability worldwide. You said nothing.
He attacked a nation during mediated negotiations. You said nothing.
His ill-conceived war killed 175 children on day one. You said nothing.
He alienated and insulted our allies. You said nothing.
His ICE Army terrorized and murdered U.S. citizens. You said nothing.
He committed murder on the high seas. You said nothing.
He co-opted the Justice Department and directed it to prosecute his political enemies. You said nothing.
It’s time to start talking.
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s business partners, the Alexander brothers, have been convicted on 19 counts of sex trafficking.
It’s odd how often sex offenders appear in the Trump family’s inner circle.
This is Nate Paul.
He was under FBI investigation for fraud. His real estate empire was collapsing after 18 properties filed for bankruptcy in a single year.
He wrote Ken Paxton a $25,000 check.
Then Paxton directed his AG’s office to hand Paul confidential investigative files.
They blocked foreclosure sales on his properties.
And they sided with Paul against the charity he was accused of defrauding.
Nate Paul even employed Paxton's mistress at Paxton’s recommendation.
Paxton's own senior staff reported his corruption to the FBI. They were fired.
This is what Ken Paxton does when he’s in a position of power — and it’s why he should be nowhere near the U.S. Senate.
These days I’m at a loss for words. The new corruption scandal is just bananas. Trump has been using inside information to trade stocks and make millions. And the scale of the trading is just mind blowing.
Here’s what we know.
@OccupyDemocrats There is no bottom to the depths of corruption of this administration & the current right-wing Supreme Court justices. It’s disgusting and basically amounts to a daily fleecing of our country.
So yesterday Donald Trump posted a video of him crashing Stephen Colbert's final show, and literally throwing him in the garbage, and of course, I had to FIX it.
"Circa early 2018, somewhere in the quiet of his beloved Cornville, Arizona ranch, John McCain — living with the knowledge that his days were growing shorter — made a decision that was so perfectly, mischievously, achingly him that it made the whole country smile through their tears when they finally heard about it: he picked up the phone and called Barack Obama, the man who had defeated him for the presidency a decade earlier, and asked him to speak at his funeral. Obama later said that when that call came, he felt 'sadness and also a certain surprise' — and then, with the warmth that defined him, he recognized exactly what McCain was doing, telling mourners at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018 that the invitation showed McCain's 'irreverence, his sense of humor, a little bit of a mischievous streak' — because, as Obama put it to a cathedral that erupted in laughter through their grief, 'what better way to get a last laugh than to make George and I say nice things about him to a national audience?' It was John McCain's final act of political theater, and it was genius — choosing the two men who had each defeated him for the presidency to stand before the nation and celebrate his life, sending a message louder than any speech he could have given himself: that in America, rivalry and respect are not opposites, that the man you run against can still be the man you trust with your legacy, and that decency is not weakness but the most durable form of strength. Obama stood at that altar and told the packed cathedral that McCain had 'made this country better,' that he had made Obama a better president, and that when all was said and done, despite every disagreement, 'we never doubted the other man's sincerity or the other man's patriotism' — and in the front pew, Cindy McCain wept, because her husband had arranged, from the very edge of his life, one last beautiful lesson in what it means to be an American.
😡 Remember this?
MAGAs, who claim they’re patriots, threw the American flag to the ground, and replaced it with a Trump flag.
Now they want your tax dollars.
Angry yet?
Call your representatives, STOP THE FUND!
Keep posting this so people don’t forget how truly bad this event was.
Don’t let people gaslight you into thinking it was peaceful and worthy of 1500+ pardons and slush fund payoffs.
