HAHAHAHA. The Atlantic visits a Maine trailer park where residents are fighting a corporate landlord over soaring rents and brown tap water. Then it visits a nonprofit teaching women and LGBTQ people how to become welders.
The author sees a trans flag at the welding school and somehow turns this into a lecture about a “professional-class insurgency” alienating working-class voters.
Maine's own workforce directory describes the school as providing blue-collar job training, including instruction in workers' rights.
Apparently, a welding torch becomes a symbol of professional-class elitism the moment somebody hangs a fucking trans flag nearby.
Remarkable what passes for class analysis these days.
I see a ton of people like this seemingly take for granted that expressing support for new transphobic policies is how you persuade the public to be less transphobic, and I've still yet to hear any actual strong case for that whatsoever. It's just treated as obvious gospel.
you’re not a feminist, but a mercenary- you defended ethan going after every female content creator w frivolous & costly litigation. he called @carolinekwan a bitch and a ccp honeypot spy & you stood by him- you have no morals, all you care about is failing upwards- begone.
The negative backlash to this trans woman -- clip being an optics win in the regard that AOC had basically the ideal answer -- is a mask slip. People are really mad that this makes moderates look unprincipled AND ineffective, when the latter is their deflection for the former.
Sometimes people fail to grasp that transgender people have been under an intense non-stop attack from the entire American right wing apparatus for over a decade atp
I gotta be honest but I feel like a lot of the hate that this new indie series is getting feels very transphobic in nature and just super mean for a series that's free to watch And I don't like how a lot of people are trying to make the creator a lolcow or something its dumb
The difference is gender affirming care has been covered by Medicaid and ACA subsidized plans for years. a Hyde like amendment banning gender affirming care from being covered by either would be a step backwards from where we already are, it’s unacceptable
biden signed the first federal hrt ban.
kamala said she’d “follow the law” when asked if she’d protect trans people from discriminatory laws.
gavin newsom vetoed multiple pro-trans bills.
“These guys are fucking weird” was the perfect 2024 message and they really let a bunch of George Washington grads kill it because it didn’t test positive with the thirty “Liz Cheney Republican” voters in America
@umaposting From my experience at the track with an uma group in Canada, they tend to be confused at first but then happy that young folks are around as it brings new life to the sport
Would yall get mad at me if I said that "therapyspeak" is nowhere near as common in newer fiction as the internet likes to complain? Like half the time people complain about "therapyspeak" its just two characters talking about their feelings in a mature, healthy way
