What a difference six years makes! Six years ago today, I was in a hospital bed in Montreal, about to receive a stem cell transplant that would give me a new lease on life.

Six years after that transplant, I am on my way to Mexico City with Prime Minister Carney, driven by our mission to diversify our trade and build the strongest economy in the G7.

On September 18th, I always take a moment to reflect on the selflessness of my donor, Jonathan; on the amazing service I received from the doctors and medical staff at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont; and on the incredible support I received from my wife, Jolene, my family and my friends throughout my illness.

Today and every day, I am grateful for my health and for the privilege of serving Canadians.
