Have you ever seen an Igbo man walk into an Umu Ada meeting and start trying to rewrite or alter the traditions of that meeting simply because he is Igbo and feels entitled to say, “I’m an Igbo man, I have rights here too”?
Madam, being Igbo does not give you a licence to cross cultural boundaries or impose yourself where you do not belong. An Umu Ada meeting has its own traditions, structure, and rules, and those who understand the culture know better than to barge in and start rewriting them.
Please, spare us this childish entitlement. Not every space requires your presence, and not every tradition needs your personal interpretation. Learn to respect boundaries before your attempt to sound clever becomes an embarrassment.
“If you’re coming for my wedding don’t come empty handed bring gifts for both Peller & myself, don’t come & spray us Naira, spray US dollars & if Naira 500 should be the lowest domination, we don’t want Gifts like bucket or plastic gifts, bring electronics like TV, Microwave & fridge”
