Patriarchy is not a conspiracy. It is biology meeting survival. Men took the role of the expendable sex because someone HAD to be expendable.

And expendable they were.

The deal was simple and brutal: Women are protected and cherished inside. Men are sacrificed outside.

Women got safety. Men got the grave.

That system built every civilization on earth. Every house you live in, every road you drive on, every freedom you have was paid for by male corpses you will never know the names of.

So when you say "patriarchy oppresses women," what you really mean is "I'm ungrateful that men died so I could live long enough to hate them. If they had given you rights and freedom 400 yeats ago, humanity would have gone extinct.

We have burned down every norm, every tradition, every guardrail in this society so women could be "finally happy and empowered."

And what do we have to show for it? The most miserable generation of women in human history.

More doped up than ever. More medicated, more therapized, more anxious, more on edge.

Empathy turned into a mental illness. they'll cry for criminals and strangers but feel nothing for their own husband and kids.

They'll tell a waiter "thank you" for bringing them a drink, but tell their husband who bought them a car it's "bare minimum."

They'll sign to save puppies from being aborted but refuse to sign to save babies from being aborted.

They hate marriage, hate motherhood, hate men, hate the country that gave them everything, and they vote for the exact people who want to destroy it all.

Look at the progression…it's insane when you lay it out:

It started as "I want to vote."

Then "I want to work outside the home."

Then "I want birth control so I can have sex without consequences."

Then "I want to have sex like a man with no shame."

Then "I want a no-fault divorce so I can leave whenever I feel unhappy."

Then "I want to kill the baby if the pill fails."

Then "I want to kill the baby up to the day of birth."

Then "I want to be celebrated for killing the baby."

Then "It's understandable and brave to strangle your own kids if motherhood is too stressful, she needs support not jail."

From freedom to abortion to transing kids to justifying infanticide.

I don't have 30 mins to get on a call with you but I can share these tips with you. Trust me, I know my stuff.

1. If you're applying to a particular lab or team. Research their last 3 publications & use it to amp up your talking points.

2. Every detail you share about yourself has to br around your skillset. What you can do, what you have done. Nobody cares about your family problem.

3. If the PhD already has a research problem & you've formulated your proposal. Be able to explain that proposal in 30 seconds, 2 mins, 10 mins. Time and train yourself for this. This way, you rip out a lot of filler junks.

4. To every question they ask, script your response as a scientific answer. Start with the problem, feed it into an hypothesis, detail an approach, postulate a finding - most importantly, propose possible limitations.

5. Go to the interview with your own questions. It communicates confidence. Ask them: "Realistically, what do you expect a candidate to achieve in 12 months?"

6. Don't oversell yourself. You're not Einstein. The people you're talking to, also don't know everything. They don't expect you to know everything. So when you're asked a question that you don't know an answer to, your main goal is to communicate how you think when you don't know an answer to a question.

7. Don't over patronise them. That's what charlatans do. One "thank you for this opportunity" is okay. It's a professional interview, you're not soliciting for their favor.

8. They need to remember you. You need to give them a why. It can be an edge you've honed from a previous experience you held, or a problem you solved in the past, or your approach to the proposal you're discussing. Decide which one it is, then finely insert it in one of your response frames. It shouldn't exceed 10-15 seconds.

When you eventually land the position, my favorite drink is caprisun. I don't drink beer.

Treasury Bills vs Bonds vs Mutual Funds

Let me break down treasury bills, bonds, and mutual funds because people mix them up and end up in the wrong investment for their money.

Treasury bills are short term. You lend money to the government for 91, 182, or 364 days and they pay you back with interest at maturity. Think of it as parking your money somewhere safe for a few months while it earns something better than a savings account. Minimum entry is usually low, sometimes as little as fifty thousand naira depending on the platform you use.

Bonds are the long game. Here you are lending money for years, sometimes five, ten, even twenty years. Federal government bonds pay interest twice a year and give you back your principal at the end. The tradeoff is your money is locked up longer, but the interest rate is usually higher than what you get on treasury bills.

Mutual funds are different from both. You are not lending directly to the government. You are putting money into a pool managed by professionals who then invest that pool across stocks, bonds, treasury bills, or a mix of everything depending on the fund type. You are paying someone else to make the investment decisions for you. Money market funds are the most common entry point for beginners because they are low risk and you can withdraw anytime.

So if you need your money back soon and want safety, treasury bills. If you can lock money away for years and want higher returns, bonds. If you want diversification and do not want to think about it yourself, mutual funds.
