This is a complete mischaracterisation to say that the march in Lahore was "called off" for any reason-we have issued a detailed statement, & it was decided months ago that we will not march & instead do smaller events throughout the year🧵

The federal government’s decision to impose governor rule & emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not only an undemocratic move, depriving the people of KP of their elected government and the PTI’s electoral mandate, but also a blatantly authoritarian tactic to consolidate power 1/3
Broad emergency powers are a colonial-era relic, designed to centralise power and crush dissent. The current government’s disregard for democratic principles and the Constitution should concern us all. 2/3
We strongly denounce and condemn the imposition of Governor's Rule in KP and the blatant disregard for the democratic mandate given to PTI. The elected government of KP has as much democratic legitimacy under the constitution as the governments of Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan!
Today, the NCCIA served me a notice under Section 160 of the CrPC, ordering me to appear at its Karachi office on 16 October and to bring "all relevant digital devices."
The allegation against me, in full: "posting/sharing of Anti-State content on social media platforms."
That is all I have been told. The notice does not identify a single post. It does not name a complainant. It discloses no evidence. Yet it directs me to produce evidence "in support of my defense" against unspecified accusations.
The superior courts have repeatedly cautioned the NCCIA against exactly this. Anyone summoned over an allegation is entitled to the details of the complaint and the actual incriminating evidence against them, so they know what they are accused of. Vague notices summoning citizens cannot be issued. This notice violates that settled principle, and I object to it.
I am a journalist. I report on human rights in Pakistan, which very often means reporting on the abuse of state power. "Anti-state" is not an offence this notice even attempts to define, and journalism is not a cyber crime. A summons that names no offence but demands a reporter's devices is not an inquiry. It is a warning, to me and to every journalist watching.
LAHORE AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE
We come together this Saturday to remember Hina Javed, Hina Zareef, Ayesha Gilamana, Jannat Khatoon and countless others whom we lost to GBV. We also highlight that transgender women are uniquely targeted by patriarchal violence.

HRCP is appalled by the killing of at least seven labourers in Kech district by unidentified armed men and by the deaths of at least 32 coal miners in a methane gas explosion near Quetta. While these tragedies stem from different causes, both underline the vulnerability of workers in Balochistan whose lives continue to be lost to violence, unsafe working conditions and systemic neglect.
We call for a swift, impartial investigation into the killings in Kech to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. Equally, the devastating mine explosion in Quetta highlights the urgent need to strengthen occupational health and safety standards. Pakistan cannot continue to treat workplace safety as an afterthought.
HRCP believes that every worker has the right to life, dignity and security. We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and urge the state to take tangible measures to prevent such avoidable loss of life.

📢 JOINT CALL TO PROTEST FOR KASHMIR 📢
Progressive organizations in Lahore call for a protest in soldiarity with the people of Kashmir and their movement. We condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the state violence enacted against protesters in Kashmir.
Aurat March Lahore stands in solidarity with the people of Kashmir and the participants of the sit-in in Rawalakot, who have been advocating for their rights.
The life sentence given to Mahrang Baloch and Shah Jee Sibghat Ullah is a horrific, immoral attempt to silence their voices, while the killers of Baloch protesters during the Baloch Raji Machi remain free. It is completely unlawful, unjust and unacceptable.
They must be released immediately. This is part of a larger pattern of harassment and intimidation of any voice of dissent in this country. Aurat March Lahore demands their immediate release. @MaryamNSharif@OfficialDPRPP
Activists from the Progressive Students Collective have been detained in Lahore simply for protesting in soldiarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Progressive Students Collective (PSC) and Revolutionary Students Front (RSF) invites all those who believe in peoples' right to politics to join us in solidarity with the people of Kashmir, their cause, and all those affected by the recent state violence and crackdown. (1/3)
While we need laws, we also need to challenge the capitalist, patriarchal & often casteist system that undergirds this exploitation. Domestic workers are not seen as workers with rights, but at the whim & mercy of employers, which often results in routinised dehumanisation. 3/3
Women domestic workers, especially young children and teenagers employed in homes, are vulnerable to physical and emotional abuse, sexual violence, harassment and economic exploitation. 2/3
