On 7 and 8 June 2026, Kulhudhuffushi City hosted an important two-day workshop jointly convened by the National Counter-Terrorism Centre and UNODC, with support from the Government of Australia.
The workshop was opened by Hon. Muaz Haleem, Minister of State for Defence and National Service, and closed by the Mayor of Kulhudhuffushi City. Participants spent two focused days reviewing the Terms of Reference for the Community-Based Early Warning System, building an operational roadmap, and committing to the launch of the Resilience Team.
This was the third workshop in a process that started in October 2025. What began as a capacity building exercise has grown into something real and tangible for our community. As the Mayor put it, success is not always measured by the problems we solve, but also by the problems we prevent.
Kulhudhuffushi City Council is committed to adopting the Resilience Team model and will work closely with all stakeholders to operationalise the Terms of Reference and bring this initiative to life for our community.
We are grateful to UNODC, NCTC, the Government of Australia, the facilitators, and everyone who participated and contributed to making this a meaningful two days for Kulhudhuffushi.
