🚨 These bombshell revelations by @SharriMarkson about the Bondi slaughter are shocking.

Sajid Akram was flagged twice to the National Security Hotline, in 2007 over his interest in explosives, and again in 2014 over ISIS sympathies and possible travel. Both alerts went to ASIO and the AFP… but they were ignored for nearly 20 years.

AFP and Border Force knew the family was travelling to terror hotspots, Uzbekistan as a gateway to Afghanistan, the southern Philippines the month before the attack, Saudi Arabia, yet NEVER flagged it to ASIO or the NSW Police who issued the gun licences. ASIO’s 2019 assessment missed those explosive red flags completely.

And counter-terror funding was slashed from over 23% to just 19% of intelligence resources, even as the threat level was raised to ‘probable’.

Ignored warnings. Complete breakdowns in sharing intelligence. Resources stripped away when we needed them most. Our security agencies seemingly let us down when we needed them most.

Was this tragedy easily avoidable?
