The ACT Branch of the Australian Republic Movement had a fantastic day spreading the word about an Australian Head of State at the National Multicultural Festival. In a proudly multicultural nation, we believe our highest representative should be one of us. A huge shoutout to our incredible volunteers - the photo frame was very popular (check out the pics) and got people thinking about Australia’s future as a republic. Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat - together, we’re making history! #AusPol #AusRepublic

💁♀️ While we're learning the history of Canberra, did you know its name likely comes from the Ngunnawal word "Kambera", meaning "meeting place"? Now you do! #AusPol#AusRepublic
💡 A lot has changed since then! Isn’t it time we had a Constitution that reflects who we are today - a modern, independent, and proud nation? Let’s take action and create a republic that truly represents us. #AusPol#AusRepublic
Did you hear the latest reporting from the ABC? They highlighted that in the upcoming 2025 election, Millennials and Gen Z will outnumber Baby Boomers in terms of voter numbers. This shift marks a significant generational change, with younger voters not yet having had their say on many major issues.
This is a clear sign of how much has changed since we last voted on an Australian republic. With a new wave of voters who value progress, inclusivity, and the idea of shaping Australia's future, it's time for another vote to break free from the monarchy and take control of our destiny. The voices of the younger generations are louder than ever - let's ensure they have the chance to be heard.
💬 The Australian Republic Movement was founded in 1991 with a simple vision: a nation where Australia would stand independently from the British Monarchy.
Over the decades, our movement has grown into a powerful voice with supporters from all walks of life. From community leaders to everyday Aussies, from every state and territory - we’re backed by millions who believe it’s time to leave the past behind and claim our future.
Together, we’re building momentum like never before and we're getting closer to making it happen everyday. Are you ready to join us and make history?

🪙 Believe it or not, there's a rule about which direction the Head of State faces on our coins! King Charles now faces left, while the late Queen faced right. It’s part of a centuries-old British tradition that has nothing to do with us, the origins of this custom dating back to the reign of King Charles II in the 17th century.
However, there have been exceptions, for instance, King Edward VIII broke the rule because he preferred his left profile. Isn't it time we minted coins that reflect Australia - with our identity, our leaders and our future?

✈️ The role of a Head of State is to represent the values, identity, and aspirations of the people they serve. How can that be fully achieved when their attention is divided between Australia and the UK?
An Australian Head of State would be wholly dedicated to Australia, present for our national milestones, and able to respond quickly to moments of triumph or crisis. Leadership shouldn’t come from afar - it should be grounded in the country it serves.
It’s time for leadership that’s as close to home as it is to heart.
